very cool. I am still working on the bass, I just figured the Attitude page needed a break from my pics...

I have since redone the pickups and they are closer to real bass.. My first attempt was ok... but I had the need to get closer...

Not only do you get it looking near exact to the original (thanks to Bluesman Vintage - who you opened my eyes to) - but now you are getting feedback from the man himself.

Back on topic I would just say that I think these Yamaha Attitudes are amazing looking and sounding - and I'm sure Yamaha quality is astounding on their upper end stuff.

talking of pickup balance, I find when running in 'mono' mode to a single output, if I turn up both pickups full, the P loses a bit of volume. For example, I start with the P on full, gradually bring in the woofer, everything's fine till the last bit and then the P loses a bit of volume in say the last 10-20% of the woofers full output. (if any of that makes sense)

Is this normal behaviour? The only thing I can think of is so you have the P on full as Billy would, then blend in the woofer and maintain a constant volume.

probably because you start noticing the fact that low end requires more amp power which causes the overall volume level to decrease when you bring the woofer in? I noticed this phenomena when using low passing to 500hz (not bringing the bass up but removing all treble) and also when removing bass and pushing mids, volume perception is remarkably changed, and this is probably the same?

Or maybe it's the age old problem of phase cancellation in which when you blend two pickups some frecquency band cancel out and a lower output appears. one of the two or both

Got this off a fellow talkbass member and am complete in love with it! The new neck bolt system, A.R.E. treatment really make the bass sound alive and the new woofer pick up is great aswell.
Don't get me wrong, still love my LTD2 as I've played tons of shows on it and put alot of sweat,wear and even some blood into it but Yamaha really took it to the next level with the LTD3.
My band is recording soon, going to use both Attitudes on it, one of them setup ADGC.
Should be heavy!

Isn't that called a barrel jack? (not 100% sure about this) Hope you can get it fixed. These are amazing basses.

I still haven't found an Attitude (vented about this some pages ago), but I reckon I will.. someday.

Question for the Attitude 3 owners...

How well do the basses balance on a strap? More so, do they have neck dive, and if so how bad is it?

I had read that the early models had terrible neck dive due to the massive neck. I love chunky, P-style necks, but I'm not too keen on neck dive. I like my bass to be at roughly a 45 degree angle when playing. ( makes it easier to keep my wrist straight)

I got myself an Attitude 3 Ltd last week (Awesome!), and it balances fairly well. I use a wide suede strap which helps with any neck-heavy bass.
