I think it's still a special joint. There's only two visible bolts on the back. If that were a normal joint Billy would break it off the first time he bent the neck as a tremolo.
As for the price increase, maybe that makes up for the eco-friendly soldering or something. Was a case previously included? That could also be a factor.
I'm really skeptical of the "eco-friendly solder". I'm curious what seperates it from lead-free solder, which is widely-available and pretty much the same price and other solder.

Yes, that was my point as well. The GL is essentially a '72 reissue with a thinner neck whereas the Attitude is more of a "ground-up" approach.
I was also agreeing by saying (in my way) that you couldn't make too many assumptions about what kind of bassist would play a GL whereas I can see why you might think there were similarities amongst those who play an Attitude.
Okay now I get it. We're all on the same page...
The eco friendly solder is actually silver solder if you didn't know. It is used in a lot of high end test equipment and audio gear. There are no false readings with this stuff because it doesn't contain any impure alloys. Which is a plus.
Yes the neck is all wood now. It has two bolts on the back and two in the front. The neck is still as solid as ever.
Is the woofer suppose to have a lower output than the P's? My woofer is quieter than the P pickups. Is that normal?
The woofer, though it obviously has a different tone, is about the same output for me. Dumb question, but since it has both a volume and a tone control (with push/pull high cut) do you have the settings where you want them?
Yeah I have them all the way up. But it still doesn't match the volume of the p pickup. How high is your woofer pickup? Mine sticks out 1/8th from the pickguard .
Have to get back to on the height (I'm at work.... shhhh!) but 1/8th inch sounds pretty close. Obviously you could try adusting that. What kind of output difference are you dealing with? Are you running the pickups discretely?
It's about 1/2 to 3/4 difference. I'm running both pick ups mixed. But I ran both solo to see the output of each.
The woofer is as high as i can adjust it. I will need to place foam underneath. I think I will raise it because low output is usually a sign the pickup is too low. My p pickups are closewr and louder. So I'll see. Gonna raise the woofer. Will report back if it made a difference.
Ok success! I just raised the woofer. Stuffed a little foam underneth. And 100x better! Both pickups match now. So if any of you guys woofers are low raise them it will make a huge difference in output. Beware the black piece is only a cover. You need to raise the pickup underneath it. Thanks for the help guys!
talking of pickup balance, I find when running in 'mono' mode to a single output, if I turn up both pickups full, the P loses a bit of volume. For example, I start with the P on full, gradually bring in the woofer, everything's fine till the last bit and then the P loses a bit of volume in say the last 10-20% of the woofers full output. (if any of that makes sense)

yeah, mine does the same. Therefore i like having the P full up and woofer in about 80-90 per cent of max.
I don't know if anyone realized this (I just noticed this myself) the nut on the new ones are black instead of white.
