I might be tempted to agree if they made it so that the end of the neck was level with the pickguard, but it's not even close.

I think it's more his technique of slapping works on the Attitude. Mine certainly doesn't. Cool tone he got though.
IIRC, when Billy slaps and pops, which is very rare, he pops, somewhere between the two pickups. I reckon the scallop at the end of the neck is purely asthetic.
I did also notice the lad slapping in the video also pops between the pickups, and he appears to have a huge strip of gaffa tape over the woofer. I can only assume this is to smooth off the edge of the pickup so he doesn't get his fingers caught. Steve Vai does a similar trick with a bit of tape on the lower end of his neck pickup, so his pick doesn't get caught.

its sweet. It does a close reproduction of the Attitude but miss the boat on the pbass part of it. It has good super low end but is lacking on the high end part but over all it a nice bass I don't digg the wider body of the BB but I won it in the bass player mag Billy live master class giveaway. It came with an embrodered gig bag and a dvd "History of the Billy Sheehan Model"

it would have been nice if yamaha made it like his original BB bass, stereo outputs, dtuner, scallops etc. and pink/purple finish
Or go a stage further like Fender did with the Van Halen Frankenstein, and do all of Billy's experimental mods, like a hole where the bridge pick up once was, the split P mounted in a humbucker rout, and a proper EBO neck pickup that doesn't quite match the string spacing

Thats my next project actually. I am getting things together to build a "wife" replica or atleast try. I think the hardest part to find will be the stickers he has on there.

Quick question to my fellow Attituders . What kind of action do you people get on yours? I'm trying to set mine up for comfortable buzz and rattle free (relatively) low-ish action, and I'm really struggling. (and yes I have posted this in the set-up forum before you ask, but I'd like to know what other people get on the same bass).
I've been using the fender 'Mr Gearhead specs as a guideline, as this bass is pretty similar in design and build to a Fender P, but can't get anywhere near the action suggested without major rattling. For example I've got the relief set to .30mm as suggested (I thought straightening was in order as the buzzing was in the middle of the neck upwards), and my E string is currently at 1/8", about double the suggested specs (and double of my warwicks), and still buzzing like a jar full of bees. I don't mind a little buzz when I really dig in, it gives character, but this is ridiculous, and far to high action to play comfortable up the dusty end.
So, anyone want to share their attitude measurements for low action, relief and action pretty please and help a confused soul out.

I have my action set low and ratty. I like it to sound a little distorted but still I don't see why you couldn't get it low without the buzz.

Oh crap. I just measured my strings to see if it came with Billy Sheehan sigs. Nope. It's got 105-45 set on there. Who knows what brand. Why didn't they put the sigs on it? They are only 20 bucks for a set. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a set.
They put their own Yamaha strings on their, the same as the rest of their stringed instruments. I guess they figure it would suit more people to put a standard guage set on. But secondly they aren't going to spend money buying in someone else's strings when they make their own. Most people take them off a new bass anyway, there's no telling how long they've been on there.
The BS strings do more or less fit, but I think the E string slot on mine needs widening a smidgen as it feels a little high.
