the Billy strings fit great. I have been using them for heck 15 years and they are perfect. They seem to have perfect tension across the board.

I know you guys will think I'm crazy (I posted a question about this in a DiMarzio thread a few days ago), but I think I'm going to pull the woofer out of my ATT-LTD and have a tone knob wired into the p pup.
I'm also installing a Kahler 7410 trem and a mirror chrome pick guard.
I know Billy and others can slap on the bass. I can too, to a point.
Not that I'm crazy into slapping, but the woofer does feel in the way, and I don't like the sound of it so much.
I also play through a SVT-Classic and can't afford or want another amp.
Some have recommend I mod a P bass instead, but I think this bass blows any P I ever played out of the water. And as far as modding a cheap bass, well, I'd have a modded POS.
I'm going to have a pro do all this work, of course.

You say you're not crazy into slapping. I would ask myself how necessary modding and possible spoiling a great bass is for slapping if I don't do it very often.
I'd rather spend the modding funds on a cheaper bass solely for slapping if that's the case.
But then again, it's your bass, do what you think is best for you to have 'your' bass.

It's just that I don't use the woofer anyway, and not only is the pick up itself in the way, but I find that it's knob is too. Not just for slapping, but strumming as well (for me).

Wow, I couldn't imagine taking out the woofer - that's the key to the tone of the instrument for me.
Funny I never use the woofer pickup. Just the p pickup. It's tempting to put a stereo rig together but I really don't want to cart around any more gear and I can only imagine what soundguys will think when they see the rig.
I mess around at band practice sometimes and plug the P pickup into my guitar player's half stack and the woofer into my rig. I have to admit it sounds pretty awesome.
I couldn't imagine ruining a great bass like this. It's like putting a four popper in a Ferrari. Don't do it.
Thinking of getting an Attitude II but no music store has the bass where I live and they'll only order it if I perches the bass, but they have the Billys BB series in, how big of a difference is that base compared to the Attitude II?
Granted the body is different but does it have the same type of neck except for the scallop part ?
Are the pickups in the same position ?
Any one here run the B, E, A, D tuning on the Attitude II ? If so how does the B sting feel ?

the bb bass really is only a Billy Sheehan in name only it does not sound like the Attitude. Close, but no cigar it has alot more low end and is very gritty sounding to me. The neck is more jazz like in that it is narrow and has a flatter c shap to it.
Well first things first I did answer your question about the differences in the attitude neck and the bb series neck and the tone similarities.
the Attitude neck isn't really like either a jazz or a pbass but if that is your reference point think a wider version of a p-bass. it is a fairly wide neck though I find it very comfortable. I feel like I use my whole hand rather than over shooting with a narrow neck.
As for the tuning I haven't done the BEAD tunig on it and havent really heard of any one on here doing it. The neck on the Attitude is strong as hell and I wouldn't think you'd have a probelm with it other than the re shaping the nut and bridge for the string changes.
I believe Billy has one tuned BEAD, so it should be ok. The gauge and type of string you use has a bigger influence on the 'floppyness' than anything else. Although saying that, it may sound a bit woolly due to the neck p/up, so you may need to roll the neck p/up off to tighten the tone up. I think tighter sounding bridge p/ups give a more pleasing sound to a low B string, personally.
The only way you'll really find out would be to try it. Get a set of strings with a tapered B, so you don't have to file the bridge saddles and give it a go.

How do you guys set your tone knob? Do you pull it up? I know most roll off the woofer knob a little and put the p on full (which I do) but where do most of you set your tone knob? I usually keep it turned all the way down. But is that good? Just need ideas on how to set this thing.

Well, hi everyone! I also play a SFG attitude ltd II and have been doing that for about a year now. This bass is just amazing! I did have some problems with the volume on the neck PU but I now know that i can raise it (thanks for that info).
I use DR black coated strings with mine (it looks grreat) and i tend to exchange them with BS strings every once and a while.
Slapping sure is possible on an attitude but the faster the song gets, the more trouble i get fitting my fingers underneath the strings. For some right-hand tapping it works pretty damn good.
For those like me who don't like spending all their money on a 2nd amp: I normally plug the P-style in my SVT on stage and give the humbucker signal to the sound engineer through a DI. Let him figure out what sounds best for the audience as long as i keep control over the main sound i like to use.

Twin outputs.
Woofer (X2N-B) that is completely hidden by the pickguard.
P pups in the usual spot.
Piezo bridge.
Knob 1: outer is woofer vol, inner is p-bass pickup vol
Knob 2: outer is Piezo volume, inner is P-bass pickup tone
The output can be bridged or split (via selector on rear control plate), and the split is woofer pickup for one output and p-bass pickup/piezo mix for the other. The 3-position switch on the front between the knobs should be to control the mix for the second output as follows:
1) P-bass pickup only
2) P-bass and piezo both
3) Piezo only
