The new RBX 170 basses, which I am assuming are the replacements for the 260/270s have an agathis body, instead of alder.

and it seems that pickups are not the same.

You are right about the pick ups.

But the main difference between the 100 serie and 200 serie is the material of the wood of the body.

200 serie has alder bodies
100 serie has agathis bodies, cheaper wood

the 270 has P/J pickups, the 270 replace the 260 with had only a P-style pickup. (Before that you also had the RBX250 and RBX240, don't exactly how the were improved.)

Same goes for the 170 (P/J), the predecessor 160 only P-style pickup.

I oredered the RBX170. Will let you guys know how the body compares to the 200 serie.

All done so they could offer something at a lower price-point. I think on the new 100-series, the bridge position j-bass pickup is actually a stacked humbucker.

Are you sure about the J pickup being a stacked humbucker?

I was thinking of replacing it with a MM-style humbucker.

Anyway, I ordered the one in Old Violin Sunburst

I just love that bass in that color.

Hey guys, I have a line on a Yammy BB5000A being sold locally and I was wondering how you folks felt a $400.00 price tag matches with this basses current value?
I have yet to see it in person, but I am considering it very seriously.
Any thoughts from my fellow Yammy users?

Yeah, that's a great price if the piece is in excellent shape and it's the one with the 19mm string spacing. I saw a fretless model go for $700 on evilBay a couple of years ago. It was pretty much mint condition. I own two of them.
