here is a comparison of BBPH to BB1200S. all settings are the same. the BB1200S has bass centre elites 105/85/65/55 and the BBPH still has the stock D'Addario EXL-170SL 100/80/65/45.
BBPH is definitely more zingy. Still sounds good, would probably sound even better with the elites. Here I prefer the BB1200S for sure though.
Says there's 2 offers so I'm guessing it was one of those. He still probably got more than retail for it.
Sounds great! As others have said already BBPH is def more "zingy", but they both sound pretty close. I do wonder whether the different gauage strings account for the slight difference?
If they shift them and make money, I'd be pretty confident they'll make more. It depends if their appeal extends beyond the Peter Hook fans.
There are some still available to buy in UK.
I tried the BBPH, but only in a home setting unfortunately. I've had the BB1200S in the past, and if I was asked my preference I would love to have the 1200S back. I was crazy for selling that on! The quality of workmanship and sound is 2nd to none.
there are 4 that have been on reverb for a few weeks spread out through europe and canada. usa is where they are hard to get.
Stumbled across this cover of The Perfect Kiss done with a BBPH early this morning, I think it highlights the BBPH really well. Sounds really close to the BB1200S. This guy is the only person I've seen so far on YouTube playing a BBPH other than shops demoing it.
it's nice that he doesn't bury his signal in the original recording like most youtube covers do, but no g string slides during the verses, some improvised line over the chorus and some super rushed out of timing on the outro. when people play things different i wonder if it's on purpose or because they don't know the notes.

I just started learning this song myself. Super helpful to watch Hooky and his son play it "live" not all that long ago. Hooky, of course, is playing a BBPH. Jack plays a jazz bass, and interesting that Jack is the one who plays the popped intro.
jack's playing a custom yamaha. either a bb1024x or bb2024x modified pickups. peter hook's not as good at the popping as jack. both are better than bernard's attempts during confusion though. i'd like to hear that riff done by someone more adept at that style. it would really shine.
