BBPH for sale on Reverb right now. $2,500 is what they're asking for. Too much to make it worth it for me personally.

You could get two BB1200Ses for that much, and that's if you are looking at the highest prices they sold for. Might be able to squeeze a vintage Clone Theory into that amount too.
- are these made in Japan? or Taiwan/Indonesia?... seem to be fairly easy to find if ya search many of the stores across US...thought these were in the low hundreds avail.. TBH, i didnt read all 21 pages here. sorry if i missed it - i skimmed.

There are none left in America to my knowledge, all of those were spoken for before the bass was even released. Only 14 for the entire country.
Hm...i know of two for sale...one brand new, the other 'like new' condition. I suppose I should buy one - but the Indonesia part scares me a bit. Would have thought a Japanese version would have fetched them more money - to be honest, never heard of the man prior to this thread either. I really liked many of his interviews - def down to earth nice fella - music innovator aside.
How much are they going for? Keep in mind that street price for these was $1200 US. I see you're in Canada, I think there's a couple listings left for those there, same situation in Europe. For whatever reason Yamaha allotted more basses to Canada than they did America.
Oh that's all?? For some reason I thought i saw a used one here sell for 2200 USD, so i expected the MSRP to be much higher. Ok, so yeah - same pricing then. Thought I found a score - hahaha. Nope. Thanks for the info.
Yeah don't go paying too much over that, It's overpriced even at $1200 USD. At the end of the day, the BBPH is just a custom BB734A, which has a street price of $750 USD, and the modifications that were done to it are not worth the extra $450 unless you're a diehard fan, which seeing as you've never heard of Peter Hook until recently, I assume you are not.

I didn't had much time to play it and do a proper setup, but this looks like a great bass!
Construction is top notch, as I would expect from Yamaha. The bass is beautiful and sounds great.
I am a P flats guy, this one will have for now some black beauties to contrast with my Pulser 400 with TI's.

$2500 does seem a bit much, even for a signature bass. If my experience, country of origin shouldn't be an issue. I have Japanese, Taiwanese, and Indonesian BBs and they're all spectacularly made.
Spent some hours with the BBPH.
I must say I'm not a Peter Hook fan, I know some Joy Division tunes, but also not a fan.
But i couldn't resist buying this bass. I was on the verge of buying a BBP34 or a BB434, but the J pickup always turned me off.
When I saw this bass yesterday in the store, when I was picking up a pedal, I was surprised to see it and asked to play it a little, while the staff went to get the pedal.
It was instant love. It is a superb bass, in my opinion. In all aspects. I'm sure (knowing Yamaha pianos quality), that the other basses in their line are also like this.
The active option is not what I am usually looking for, but in this bass I just loved it. It's like a super P.
I recently bought a Yamaha Pulser 400 and it quickly became my main player. This is the alternative I was searching for, beeing a P tone bass guy. A modern P bass, a super P!
I quickly took off the zingy strings and put some TI Flats I had on another bass. Both the Pulser and de BBPH have TI Flats.
So, I must be the only BBPH owner that was not looking for the Peter Hook sound, but Yamaha did the exact bass I was looking for. With the right strings and setup (for me), I am amazed by this bass.
It is made in Indonesia. I own or have owned USA, Japan and Germany built basses. If this bass said USA, Japan or Germany on the back of the headstock, it couldn't be better built than it is right now.

What a joke that is. I did have one for short time and while it is a very good bass it is worth no more than $1500 IMHO. I paid around $1200 when they first came out. I preferred the original 1200S but that's just my opinion FWIW.

i suspect the pricing and because there is a lack of real photos, it is just a gimmick to get free advertisement on talkbass and facebook. once the exposure is out, the price will decrease (if there actually is a bass to buy). it remains to be seen, in more ways than one.
