Yes! Fender 9050 flats!

Hmmm.
I have the .045, .060 & .080 brand new/unused out of the 9050CL set...just missing the .105.
I guess I will buy another full set as they seem to be reasonably priced.
Which 9050 set should I buy, the one with .100 or .105 E string?
I figured I could use my partial 9050CL set as backup strings...unless I can find a spare .105 somewhere

I have the 9050 Flats on my MIM Jazz......love em....I haven't ever played other flats to compare (I love the 1/2 round D'Addarios on my Yammy though)..this is a good video too ..compares 5 brands including the 9050's

Having had the same experience, an Ernie Ball 105 flat blends well with the Fenders. Just a tad less growl, but at least you can get it as a single, and not have to resort to a Chromes single.

Are they discountinuing the 9050?? I see they only have the L and M left @ Bass Strings Online!?

I like the older (no silk) Fender 9050s better. I have a 7 year old set on my CS 55 and one back up set for the day these finally go.
I know this thread has been quiet but.....
Fender is my 2nd favourite flat next to Ernie Ball.
But had a bass that didnt sound good with the EB's.
i needed this bass to be nasty, punchy, and mean.
Fender 9050L and damn....

Have only been using the ML, but keep reading good things about the L. How different is the tone between the ML and L ?
I've been using 9050 50-110's on my u.s. masters ep4, an older p/j model and they sound beautiful and have a nice round thump with a decent sustain as well. Now as far as the tone difference between the L and the ML's? I suspect the the d and g strings would have a bit more snap and bite to the tone but not by much as to make much matter out of it unless you do some old school punk or slapping then the L would be my choice.
This is just my experience....
At first there is a difference with the L having a little more zing to them.
But after a few weeks of break in time i couldnt tell the difference except for the feel of them.
I usually dont like lighter gauge strings because of the feel, but i had a very slim jazz neck on a p bass that just didnt take the heavier gauge as well.
2 very different tones, IMHO... The LaBella are nice, thumpy, and very vintage! I like them... The 9050 are more modern, but very nice (better than the Chromes for me)... I like them both very much.
I just purchased these and they're great bought them for 16.99 compared to 30 for the chromes and I can't tell the difference, I have 9050 on my honey P, and chromes on my new Am Std P Bass, I'll sell how they both mellow out, as the sets are both new...
