I play with two guitarists who each use two 100w Marshall half stacks. Best success I've had in the battle is a pair of 810s and a pair of tube heads. It has been an expensive journey.

If you're talking about the orange thing with the knob on top, that's not a powersoak, it's a variac. It adjust lines voltage going into the amp. It was an old-days Eddie Van Halen trick and a key component to the "Brown Sound"
