Yet another SX (Essex) SJB-62 3/4 Short Scale Modification Thread

Anyone know if the stock pots are 250 or 500K? Or the cap rating? My search skills were lacking on this.
Thanks. Is that definite for an SX short scale jazz? My Lakland and Squier VM Jazz had 500 stock.
If you're going to replace the pots, you've already got it open and some soldering tools and whatnot. Put a multimeter between the center and one of the outside contacts on the pot, and turn it from one end to the other. If it reads 250k ohms at the extreme, it's a 250. 
Sometimes it's also printed on the top of the pot. Of course, sometimes a bunch of stuff is soldered to the top of the pot and you can't read it anymore. Probably more of a problem on older imports.

I wanted a Mustang Bass for years but being a lefty, finding/affording a lefty one was impossible. So, I got a lefty short-scale SX P-bass, love it. The funny thing is, back when I started playing, Mustangs were kinda popular and THE mod that "everyone" did was to replace the stock Mustang p/u with a P-bass p/u. My SX already has it!

Thanks, hypercarrots. I sort of did this because there aren't too, too many beginning to end mods out there. It also gives people a feeling of what they're gonna get with an SX. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

eh, they are both probably very high maintenance and more trouble than they are worth if you keep 'em round too long.....

Bacon = SX Jazz DiMarzio Area J
Sausage = SX Jazz Stock
I had my first practice with the modded SX bass. It cut through just fine. The guys did notice that the low E was very "strong" and I think that is due to the short scale emphasis on fundamental tones. I actually cut back on the LMII bass EQ to fit better in the pocket. It was really easy to play. No neck dive. I'm sold.
