Fender Deluxe Active Jazz V (ash/maple or white/rosewood)...it's the only bass I remember ever being truly blown away by; tone, fit and finish, comfort and playability. But now it would be the Elite version...

But since I don't have the means to buy one, l'll stay in this reality and say my L2500...

Both of my gigging basses are irreplaceable to me, but if I had to choose between the Aria SB1000 and the Wal Pro fretless it would have to be the Wal. It just feels that bit more special. Inspires me every time I open the case

A year ago I would have said my Fender Reggie Hamilton Jazz. Today it would probably be any Ibanez SR fiver, the SR605 that I have would do nicely. But it depends. If I were a full time bassist trying to make a living in bands and making recordings then it would be the Reggie as it will satisfy the expectations that everyone would put on me and it has precisely the kind of versatility you need for that work. However, I play in a church band as a volunteer so I do not have to satisfy anyone's demands on tone or appearance. It was a long journey for me but I have found in the SR fivers the kind of versatility that suits me and the things I have to do best.

What's that an early modded 4000?

It's an '04 Laredo 4004,heavily modded. The pickguard shape was inspired by the 50's 4000.
The pickup positions are the same as the Rick 4002 model(or a Jazz bass). It has coil taps on the humbucking pickups,and a big fat neck i love to play.

Good memory - the first iterations had a plastic plate. Neal beat me to it ( ) - it is a 2009 Super J/P with a solid alder body (Sheldon calls the finish "Bronze Age"), pau ferro fb, has an active/passive two-band Glock pre, and satisfies my soul every time I play it.

this is tough, even though I've been playing my new Am Std Jazz constantly for the past couple of months and I love it, love it, love it. If I can only have one bass, it has to be my Bongo 5 HS. That bass just does everything well.

OP, wanna change my selection... after having extensively played my MIA jazz bass and Elite P bass the winner is MIJ Marcus Miller jazz bass ... definitely ... best bass overall although stock electronics is not top notch! So I'd like to bring my almost standard Marcus Miller!
