Ah.. ehm... MIA Am. Elite Jazz Bass then .... (saying this after having bought an Am. Elite P bass just to get hold of the best original P bass on the market, aside from Custom Shop ones .. I think overall a J bass is more versatile).Ay... which one?
Lol, ok! Excellent choice...Ah.. ehm... MIA Am. Elite Jazz Bass then .... (saying this after having bought an Am. Elite P bass just to get hold of the best original P bass on the market, aside from Custom Shop ones .. I think overall a J bass is more versatile).
Come on man- you can do this...Probably a Thunderbird, but it would be tough to come down to just one.
Assuming we haven't talked about this already, if you want to pursue this idea, do what I did…"Projekt Blue" to use as a routing template as illustrated above.Fender P/J or Fender shaped P/P
I've got a Blacktop Jazz, and it's pretty much just about ideal. The only thing I would change were to move the neck pickup back to P position in lieu of it's current J position, but I don't know how much of a real word difference that makes versus being told repeatedly by TB Hivemind that it's "not the sweet spot."
Inhuman I didn't mention my MIJ MM jazz bass as it would have been too many basses fir the OP ... however even if I own other MIA Fenders I consider this guy the best bass I have as the neck has simply got the right shape and size for me ... however it's since quite a while that I'm thinking to upgrade the electronics ... I upgraded the pickups to Fender SCNs but I'd like to further upgrade them to Fender Super 51 which I own but didn't install them yet ...what about the preamp ? Mike Pope 2 bands? East M retro? Aguilar 2 bands? Bartolini ? (Bartolini only cones with a box full of wires which make me skeptical about my actual capability if installing it..).
I've looked for somebody to ask this question to since a long time, your reply would super appreciated!
At this moment in time, if I had to purge all but one of my basses, I'd be damn sure to keep my "Projekt Blue" Jazz bass. Between the extra routing I had done (I can install either a J-pup or a P-pup in two different positions at my whim…Blacktop or Reggie-sig "sweet spot"), the Hipshot Drop-D tuner and the series/parallel wiring harness, I'd have more than enough "BASS" for most, if not all purposes.

Speaking of "extra routing"…
