You opened for WHOM???

These are all really cool...
In the past I have been in bands that have opened for:

James Brown
Kenny Wayne Sheppard
The Blues Brothers
The Stranglers
Atlantic Rhythm Section
The Wailers
The Connells
2 Skinnee J's (really cool, now defunct band from NYC)
and a couple fo others that I am trying to remember now.:bassist:

In my first two shows with my new band Link Removed, on Monday we opened for Napalm Death and Exodus. And last night we played a big festival show, where we played right before the nationals, with Fear Factory, Drowning Pool, Fozzy, American Head Charge, Motograter, Five Finger Death Punch, etc. Huge stage, awsome sound, it was a blast. Too bad the people putting on the show lost their a$$ due to the turnout.

Muddy Waters - 3 nights in 1972, 1 night in 1980.
John Lee Hooker
Asleep at the Wheel - 3 different times
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee
John Mayall
Charlie Daniels Band
Albert Collins
Homesick James and the Dusters
John Hartford
Doug Kershaw
The Klezmatics
Jethro Burns
Merle Haggard
Played in a "pickup band" with Eddie Harris

Eddie Harris? It was like 1982, in the dead of winter, Lawrence, Kansas. We all expected to play some of his better-known numbers, but he came in (late) and I think we played a lot of bebop-like stuff, along with a lot of jamming on I-IV progressions. I don't remember any song names.

The hall we were playing had neglected paying the utility bills, so there was no heat in the building. We were all wearing coats, and there were maybe 50 people in the audience.

Just goes to show that paying your dues never really ends...

Our Daughter's Wedding (with Mars Williams on saxophone!)
The Bongos (2x)
Wall of Voodoo
Ebn Ozn (our keyboard player was in their band too)
The Waitresses (only Patty Donahue and some hair band)
Peter Tork! (also with a hair band!)
Alien Sex Fiend
And some others I can't recall at the moment...
We were supposed to open for the B-52's, but Ricky got sick... :(

ALIEN SEX FIEND!!!! how was tha??

Funny... forgot about that.. I have too!

Wasn't on bass - back in my jazz trombone days.. real nice guy, real classy musician when I met him. INSANE breath support!

He's definitely missed.

I've opened for Maynard Ferguson. Got a J-bass pickguard autographed by some of the band members with his big ol' sig' right in the middle. Maybe it's valuable now that he's no longer with us.
