You should smile!

Considering I made it out of HS, made it through comm college on time, and never really failed anything "hard", I didn't expect that doing the work would make teachers manipulate a student's grades to crash a GPA.

Ok, so you got a crappy deal, it happenes to everyone. Quit singling yourself out as some sort of victim of life. We all get a crappy hand from time to time. Dude, I didnt even finish community college, and here I am as happy as I can be. Like I said previously... the Universe does not give a crap about your plans. Accept that maybe, just maybe, you were meant to receive a poor GPA.
If you play the role of the victim too well, like any actor, youre going to always be typecast as such.

I had an old man in my local supermarket tell me to smile it could be worse, how does he know? I didn't know him. :/

Very simple. You could have been in a vegetative state without the ability to be walking upright, or living without the freedom to be able to walk into a supermarket at all.

I have people tell me to smile all the time, I get caught pretty often in thought and tend to maintain a serious look most times.

My response is typically "I know" "I'm working on it" then I smile and go on with my day.

All this talk about how life sucks and happiness is pointless blah blah blah is ridiculous.

There are far worse off people, that still manage to find things to smile about.
If I got down and out about my life's crappy points I'd be better off just ending it all.
Happiness does not just happen, you have to put fourth effort to maintain it. You will always get out what you put in.

The problem is that most people don't realize that the bad stuff is the easy stuff, you don't have to do anything at all to get the bad stuff it takes zero effort. I promise try it, sit around and do nothing and be miserable, the bad will give you all it's got over and over.

Which is exactly why the worst thing you can do when dealt a crappy hand is to let it even slow you down a little. These are the times that working harder for happiness is most important. Putting on a smile matched with a positive attitude is one of the strongest foundations to true happiness anyone can have.

I hope that made sense.

I don't find it very difficult or needing much effort to maintain my happiness. I suppose it all depends on what is important to a person.

I'm happy and content walking my dog around the lake, playing Xbox, making dinner with the wife, working in the yard or garden, enjoying some coffee with the wife or friends, or just posting here on TBOT. Not hard at all doing any of those things for me.
