Any number of SRV`s LIVE solos...he was, IMO, much better live than on record; his solos on the "One Night In Texas" version of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" are heart-attack inducing ! As far as records go, I`ve always been impressed by KH`s "One" outtake.

"Sympathy for the devil" -Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones. It just drips of nasty elegance. I've heard many live takes after Taylor was gone and they all fall flat on their face. By far my favorite Stones period was when Mick Taylor was with them.

Queen's "We Will Rock You." It's short, and it's not about shredding or fast licks; it just sounds great! As a '70s teenager who was heavily into soul/R&B/funk, it really made me sit up and take notice of rock guitar.

Seriously, though, my favorite guitar solo would be either the last part of Scarified by Racer X (for pure shreddy catchiness) or the last bit of Signs of Life by Pink Floyd (for pure beauty). There's a bunch of other solos I love but these are the tops.

+1000 for Allan Holdsworth; most everything on the first UK album is sublime. Note the section in "Nevermore" where he trades licks with Eddie J and then doubles him for a bit.

Billy Gibbons on ZZ's "Fool For Your Stockings".

Fripp on KC's "Satori In Tangier", especially the live in Japan video.

Larry Carlton on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" and "Don't Take Me Alive".

Jeff Beck's "Angel (footsteps)" on any of his live shows. "Brush With The Blues" isn't too shabby either.

Much of Pat Metheny's work on the album "The Road To You" just soars.

Mark Knopfler on "Telegraph Road". Also Douglas Adams' favorite guitar solo.

Michael Hedges' "Because It's There" and "Silent Anticipations".
