Your "Always-on" pedal

In my small rig (Genz Benz shuttle) it's a Darkglass VMT and a Diamond compressor (current favorite child - an Orange Squeezer clone - the Analogman juicer was until very recently).

In my big rig, just the compressor. The juicer sounded so damn good through an SVT.

Is it a big improvement I just got one I like it a lot as it is I don't likely need to modify it is my always on pedal along with a very subtle reverb and recently acquired boss lmb3 bass limiter but as soon as I fix up my Joyo American Sound and add Bass Muff Pi I reckon one or the other will always be on

I wouldn't say it's a big improvement. Sonically they are transparent. I modded as needed. I once had a modulus q5 with bart pickups and aguilar obp3 preamp that would output subsonic frequencies. I could grab the low b with two fingers, physically move it up and down quickly and watch the speakers in my cab bounce in and out, making no noise. Looks cool but wastes power. So I incorporated the high pass filter which killed it. I used the pad switch to instead be able to turn the filter on and off. Later I got a spector euro 6lx with the non trim pot tone pump that had such a ridiculously hot output it would overdrive the input of the opto stomp so I tweaked it to safely run on an 18V supply and no more clipping.
