Your best 5 pedals.

You can call it boring if you like even though you have no idea what I play, I prefer not to hide my playing behind a bunch of effects. :D

If you are that insecure that you just HAVE to post on an effects forum about pedals only being needed for whiny guitar players, I'm not really interested in your music whatsoever :D

And that's coming from a blues bass player.

Origin Effects Cali76 CB Compressor, couldn't live without it.

Fuzzrocious Grey Stache Fuzz, meaty.

Mxr Bass Distortion, nasty.

Tech 21 Bass Boost Chorus, lush and full.

Dunlop Crybaby Bass, classic RATM.
I am adjusting my list 2 years later.
Damnation MBD-1
SS/BS TAFM
SUF Civil War
Crowther Audio Prunes & Custard
DOD Rubberneck

Gonna adjust mine as well - been awhile.

1) Darkglass VMT - recently put it last in my chain and loving it
2) IE Polytope - the best chorus, hands down
3) IE Frantabit - never thought I could find so many musical uses for a bitcrusher
4) 3Leaf Doom - out of the 5 fuzzes on my board, this is the one I stomp the most often
5) 3Leaf Octabvre Mini - octave of choice at the moment, barely nudging out the Cog T-16
Honorable mention: Broughton PLL - there's one "space" improv section in our setlist and this thing is perfect

The ones I use for bass:

DOD Carcosa Fuzz: What a versatile fuzz! It shines best at open-sounding mid-gain stuff. One of the few fuzzes that makes your bass sounds bigger rather than smaller. Without a blend control, no less.

Behringer Super Fuzz: One of the better Superfuzzes I've tried, at 1/8 the cost of most of the others. It's got a great range of strident, subby fuzz sounds

Ibanez Echo Shifter: A giant analog delay with tap tempo, a giant slider, oscillation and modulation. So much fun.

DOD 440 Envelope Filter: There are other envelope filters that are more sophisticated, and that let more low end through, but this one is so friendly and fun to use, and it cuts through without taking your ears off.

That's really all I've got that's "the best" for bass although honorable mention go to the MXR Bass Octave OG and the DOD Phasor 201, which are not the best, but I use them to get cool sounds from time to time.

Oh my.. I'm very out of this :D

In the last four years I've giving or selling pedals and now I've just a few of them..

1-Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe : Main tone shaping tool, preamp, overdrive and DI
2-Zoom MS60B Multistomp : Tuner and Flanger
3-Joyo Ultimate Drive : I use it at home to get a little fit of dirt from my Roland Cube practice amp (I set it with the gain pretty low) IMO it's the best OD in a low budget out there.
4-Zoom B1on : I use it like a portable headphone amp and metronome . I use it to experiment with different fx just to my main pleasure..
5-Boss ME50B : I've always loved this multifx and , one year, my ex-wife bought me one for christmas. I use it at home from time to time just for sentimental reasons.. It has several limitations (modulation and reverb share a fx slot so you can set them sepparately , a bit of latency when you switch between presets, the tuner it's not accurate..) but if you need the most common fx (wha, chorus, flanger,Od,octaver)..here and there just for a moment in a partucular song..then thsi multifx does the job so well.

I’m revising mine...

FEA DE-CL: I use it as a subtle tone enhancer, and I love the Warmth knob used conservatively around 10:00 or 11:00

Damnation MBD-1: Widely praised here and worthy of the praise. It can cover a lot of ground dirt wise, but I use it as a light overdrive / girth injection (similar to a hot beef... never mind)

Dunwich Olde Dirty Bass: After all the overdrives I have cycled through this is king for me. I use it @18V and with the MBD-1 to ramp up to a heavier overdrive sound. Love it’s clanky grind, closest thing I’ve found to get in the range of Ed’s (Thrice) tone, but still not there.

Spaceman Explorer: I’ve tried a lot of phasers and modulation sounds and this one is just hard to beat. Pricey but worth it. Many different options and about everything you can do with a phaser is available.

Source Audio Nemesis: I don’t, or haven’t yet, used this much with my band project but it’s just such a fun pedal to create with. It can be clean and pristine to wild and weird. Just a great fun pedal for getting creative.
