I am also fond of the Nissan sports cars, coupes & GTs - The 240SX, 300ZX, 370Z, the Skyline GT-R and the GT-R.

You know, it's not bad looking, but it looks like every other small coupe/sedan these days. There are very few current models that stand out to me. About the only one that perks up my eyebrows is the Fiat 500. The Abarth models are hawt.

My friend just bought one. He let me drive it around a bit and it's a hell of a performer. It's so lightweight, and with the turbo it gets 40 mpg.

Ever since Rush came out with the song Red Barchetta, many pronounce the work incorrectly. Barchetta is pronounced Barkketta and not Barshetta.

Fiat produced a fun roadster called the Barchetta from 96-05. Fun car that sounded great.

Hmm...

1) Brand new Ford F-350 SRW Diesel - and then sink another dozen grand or so into engine mods, a mild lift, and slightly bigger tires. The Diesel trucks are the new hot-rods, and folks are getting ungodly amounts of power out of them. I will admit, I'm not happy with the looks, but this is all about performance.

2) Ariel Atom V8 - When the weather is nice and you need something completely bonkers...it runs the risk of outrunning the Bugatti Veyron under most conditions, but you don't need the last name of Trump or Gates to afford it.

3) BMW 3-series wagon with XDrive - gotta have something practical

I was wondering about those. They've just released them in Australia, and they're actually quite inexpensive. They certainly have a bit of style about them as well.

Okay, I thought it was a real plane, which shows you how much I know about them.

I once travelled in a helicopter with a badly injured friend from one hospital to another. The trip via car is about an hour if the traffic is good, and perhaps 40 minutes in an ambulance at high speed with sirens. It took 9 minutes from takeoff to landing in the chopper.

With vertical takeoff technology, perhaps in 40 years we will be travelling in such vehicles, though traffic control in cities would be a problem.

It true here too. Australia used to build fantastic cars, that looked like nothing else in the world. Half the cars you see now are just rebadged versions of one another. There's just no sense of individuality of style with most modern cars. They're all just inbred versions of other cars, like they've all married their first cousins, and spat out little "Stepford" cars.

Stupid "aerodynamics". They may as well just shape them all like suppositories and just stamp on the manufacturer's name. Actually some of them already look like they're just meant to be driven up an ..........!

Actually, a shameful amount of truth in that for you Australians. The Holden/Vauxhall Monaro with the V8 was the Pontiac GTO over here, had the GM LS2 engine. I guess that's what you get when one of the biggest schemers in the automotive game owns your company. The Holden Astra was re-badged over here as one of the newer Saturn models (I can't remember which one), and the Holden HSV is the Pontiac G8. Sad, really. At least you still have the Ford Falcon.
