I did actually know they existed :)
In fact, whether the thread title suggests it or not, you can definitely put your favorite pure nickel as well as nickel plated strings.

The previous version of Fender's Super Bass 8250's, which came stock on the MIA basses with string-through bridges. Love the feel, tone, and durability. I bought a few sets when I learned of the change. I also like GHS Boomers, which sound and feel similar, but don't retain their tone nearly as long.

I've been into DR strings lately, and want to try Sunbeams. The stainless Fat Beams are just killer on my SB-2, and I'm digging the coated blue set I just installed on my Fender P.

I have nickel Lo Riders on a Stingray 5 and have Sunbeams on an FNA Jazzman. Love the sound of both but, since I never tried using both sets of strings on both basses, I can't say how much of the difference in the sounds of those basses is the strings and how much is the basses themselves. However, they both sound fantastic.

I think my preference is for the Lo Riders since I prefer a higher tension string, but that's in no way a strike against the Sunbeams. I like them a lot also, just slightly less because they don't have the same tightness I like in the Lo Riders.

That being said, these are my first nickel strings so take my opinion for what it's worth. On all my other basses I've always used either stainless steel rounds or flats. So as much as I like these, I'm sure there are lots of other great strings out there.

DR Nickel Lo-Riders, been using them for at least 10 years and can't find anything I like better. I am trying some Sunbeams now and they are nice on the right bass, I like them better on my maple board jazz than my rosewood but they don't have the same thickness in tone that a good broke in set of Nickel Lo-Riders has. The Sunbeams sound scooped maybe even slightly hollow (in kind of a good way) in comparison.

Rotosound Swing Bass 66!

RS66LDN for blue silks
RB45 for no silk

Apart from that they pretty much sound the same i use the silked ones on all my basses that dont have a color that is going to clash with the silks, silkless for the other ones...

Its about 50/50 for the moment!

I also use D'addario one one bass that is long scale and to long for Roto, they feel pretty good and are a bit brighter...
I just like Rotos better, been playing them for almost 10 years and i am a faithful customer...
Also think d'Addario have a longer life if your into bright strings, rotos die pretty fast but are pretty cheap.

Old package Fender 7250ML on my 4, EB Super Slinkies on my 5. Have a newer package Fender 7250, but I haven't tried them yet. Also loved the 7250 on my 5, but the EBs have great tone and last me about a month-and-a-half, two months if I take care of them properly (wipe down after each play; bass in case when not in use).
