Your favorite nickel plated roundwound strings

For all things combined, DR sunbeams. I like low tension and they have this nice, sort of purring sound. And the lighter sets sound equally good too.
For just tone, definately GHS boomers. They're medium/ medium-high tension and really short lived, but when it comes to nickel tone, these are sort of untouchable in my books. For some reason they seem to retain the fatness on thinner strings better than any other string I've tried. Great for super fat vintage slap spank, insanely good for big, smooth fingerstyle. But this is only the medium45-105 set. The lighter ones don't have the advantages.

I really liked the old Fender 7250's. Now I'm using D'Addario nickels, and I'm about to try a set of SIT Power Nickels.
i recently strung up a bass with the new fender 7250s (105-50) and I like them a lot. If I had only one bass and wanted to keep rounds on it, i would probably get something a bit darker but since i have a jazz with flats on it, putting these on my other jazz gives me brighter alternative.

Hi Beams have a Hex Core and Fat Beams a round core making the Hi Beams a little punchier as the wrap clings to the core better.
Hi Beams are round cores as well. If you want hex-core DRs, you need Lo Riders.
I've tried just about every brand I could find and honestly they all sound so similar to me a minor tweak on the amp will equalize any of them.
I settled on D'Addario EXL160's because I can always find them, they're crazy cheap (currently $9 at GC) and the heavier G and D strings sound beefier to me (50/70/85/105)

D'addario 170's (45-100).
Had a set on for about 7 months and they were just like I like them (mellowed-out rounds). But I had received a set of 160's (50-105) for Christmas, and decided to switch them out. Although I prefer thicker strings, these just caused too much finger noise, and I went back to the 45-100's after a month with the 50-105's.

Just ordered a set of Circle-K balanced for another bass, going to try a lighter set- 96-72-52-37. Anyone know if these are round or hex core? Didn't say on their site.

Well, I put DR nickel lowriders on my Jazz Vs, then heard/read about the Dunlops, so I got a couple sets, but havent put them on anything yet,
But I happened to get an Ibanez ATK305 (which became my main gig bass) with Elixirs and I gotta say, I love them.
Elixirs arent cheap, but Im not into changing strings often, and I think theyre a great value in spite of their initial cost.

S.I.T powerwound, I've tried a bunch of strings these seem to work for me, great sound, high tension ( I like my strings to fight back a little bit) and they are pretty cheap!
