Your favorite nickel plated roundwound strings

Dean markley blue steels are stainless steel. hence how they say blue steel...but not bad strings. I didnt like them because it destroyed the callus's on my left hand but they ended up coming back stronger then the were so thats a plus I guess it kinda felt like it had just started playing bass and had none. My string of choise is the Ernie ball slinky 105 set. They stay bright for a while and sound great one a p or j bass.. Although I have heard great things about DR and want to try them and probably will with my next set.
He is referring to the Dean Markley Blue Steel NPS(Nickel Plated Steel) which are commonly referred to as Nickels. Hence, his referrence to nickel plated.
Most "nickel" strings are NPS, however, there are a few Pure Nickel strings. Fender 7150's are Pure Nickel, for example.
All of the sets mentioned in this thread have been NPS, which is what the OP requested. The Ernie Balls you mentioned as well as the DA XL's, and DR Sunbeams are all NPS.
Edit: By the way, DA XL-170's are my recommendation...
For my active bass: Lakland light gauge Nickels (GHS?).
For passive: Tie between DR Lo-Riders and Fodera Diamond series.
My all-time favorite were the old MTD Nickels before they changed winding companies. They had a tapered B and were long enough to got through-body on a 35"...

i occurred to me that perhaps the OP simply didn't know that Pure Nickel strings existed. (2 years ago i didn't know this. someone had to tell me) So perhaps the OP might be interested in trying some Pure Nickel strings, hence my suggestion.
of course, i could be wrong. only the OP knows for sure.

i like d'addario xl's because they have a good sound and i can get my gauges in a twin pack for $20.

Likewise the Rotosound strings I mentioned are pure nickel wrap.
R. Cocco nickel rounds. Used to love the Sunbeams, but have not looked back since switching. I little tighter tension, a good bit fatter sound, and for reasons I don't comprehend, they just sound more in tune on chordal playing.
Mine are D'Addario nickels. I really, really liked the old Fender 7250's, but I haven't tried them since the formula change.

I loved the original Fender 7250s as well......
Now I use GHS Pressurewounds as my go-to round, and I also use SIT nickel Taperwounds as well.
