Star Trek: The Next Generation - Tradition and majesty, and an expectation of something grand

When that series first came out 30-something years ago, I wrote some risqué lyrics to the theme tune that were essentially bragging about the size of one's anatomy...and to this day whenever that show is on TV my wife will start singing those lyrics! "Something grand" indeed!!!

I'm not sure if this is the original but this is arguably the most interest bass heavy track I know, Abraham Laboriel Sr. with an extended intro solo. It's a recent discovery during the earlier part of his career.

To me it's a tie with Sanford and Son's bass line.

Around 7-8 years ago had to learn this song for a group playing early jazz standards.
I thought it was lame to begin with but I had a lot fun once we started playing it live.
People loved it and would whistle along with the melody line.
