The cab lives in my garage as I don't have the inspiration to drag it down two flights of stairs and back up! The Marshall lives in the house.
I really only use these for gigging as I have a practice amp in the house and if need be, I have another set up that lives at the drummers house.
I certainly do miss this set up when we have gaps between gigs, but I and my band mates always smile at gigs, when I power it up!

Tone is such a subjective thing so there is no right or wrong and when you get to a certain class of gear it's really just your own personal opinion.

For 10+ years I only played through a Roland DB-700 combo. Great tone & power plus it had that SWEET Roland chorus built in.

In the last month I've been on a mission to upgrade my rig. First I did a lot of research and based on the gigs I've played in the past decided on a Greenboy Fearless F112 cab pushed by a Carvin BX1600.

I expect to add other items in time including a MarkBass Jeff berlin sig combo.

My newly upgraded rig:

I bought a TC Electronic BH500 and a Fender Rumble 1x15 last week when Musician's Friend had a Stupid Deal of the Day on the BH500. It's the first bass amp I've purchased since I got an Ampeg B100R Rocket Bass in high school in the late '90s.

The American Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass I also got new at the same time as the Ampeg. It's strung with GHS Precision Flats.

The P-Bass is a Fender American Standard Hand Stained Ash Precision Bass - Mahogany Stain FSR I got new from Sweetwater in 2012. I love it, and wish I'd got the matching Jazz Bass at the same time. Strung with D'Addario Chromes.

I've also got a Yamaha BBN5II I purchased new back in the late 1990s. Great bass; I keep it at my parents' house. Also has D'Addario Chromes.

After leaving the Trace Elliot 4052h Bright Box and 1048 at out practice space, I took this for our gig at NiteCap in Chicago: Trace Elliot AH500X head, 1528 2 x 15 cab, Yamaha RBXJM2, Korg Pitchblack, Markbass Distorsore, MB Mini Distortion, MB Chorus/Flanger, MB SuperBooster, MB Compressore.

It works.

Unfortunately I have no photos of my current rig but here it goes:
I play a 2008 American Pbass with a maple fingerboard into an MXR M-80>MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe>Dunlope Bass Wah into an Eden E300T, into an Ampeg 8x10. I use this set up for my Doom Metal Band and the for my thrash band. In the trash band i take the Fuzz pedal out of the signal chain, I play Fender Limited Edition Sandblasted Jazz bass (Crimson Red and the best Jazz bass I have ever played) and change the EQ on the amp slightly, adjusting for the tonal differences in the instruments and styles of music. I have found this to be a fairly reliable set up that doesn't sound like many in my area.

If I were to change anything about this rig I think I would just get a different rig for the Thrash metal stuff I play. I'd like to get a GK set up for thrash, maybe the fushion and a 4x12 or two. It's nice though that after 10 years of playing I'm getting close to the signature sound I hear in my head. I haven't achieved it yet but I think I'm as close now as I have ever been and I think many of you understand this feeling.

2 x Bergantino CN112
Ampeg SVT III-Pro
EBMM Sterling

Love the punch and warmth of the cabinets and amp and love the flexibility that the on-board 3-band EQ gets me. I start out with everything flat but find that usually I have to add a little bit of everything (no, it's not just louder).
Also love the portability of the Bergantino cabs. Personally prefer two smaller cabs vs one big one. Easier to bring one for a small gig or practice and easier to handle / lift.
Love the sound of the Sterling. It shines when gigging with it. I have a Warwick streamer that I play at home as well, but for gigs usually bring the Sterling. It's a beast.

Regards
Mark

Not familiar with that Roland amp- looks nice... never think of Roland when I think of bass amps...

Oh, I'll play. Current gig rig; 2 Markbass STD 102 HF cabs, 8 ohm each, Mid 90's Eden Traveler head, 300w, no defeatable compressor. I previously ran an Eden 2x10 XLT, and a 4x10 XLT, loved it, some scumbag stole the 2x10 out of my garage, I went with the 4x10 (8 ohm) for a long time, I picked up the Markbass cabs about a year ago, I love them. Portable, loud throaty tone, I stack them vertical, can hear myself better than just the 4x10 (still have that cab, in my practice room).

What would I change? I think about getting a larger watt head, likely a Markbass, but honestly, I'm happy with my Traveller...it sounds great, just not as shiny/modern as the cabs. I run no effects unless I'm doing the Cure tribute band, then I use a Bass Pod for chorus-y, flange-y distortion sounds. I have an SVT at mydisposal for that band, we usually back line gigs, usally an SVT...NO complaints here! I have another gig that backlines an SVT cab with a piece of poopie Ampeg head, the SVT with the transistor power/EQ in the middle, I can't remember the model...I hate it, sounds like ass, crappy tone all around on those heads.

Photos...the SVT shot is at Speaking Rock/El Paso, I walked in to see 2 SVT rigs onstage, got tumescent...one is a spare, only ran 1 (ok)

Peace, Love, Bobby Sherman
