Your Gig Rig

Link Removed

What I like about it:
· Portability — Everything is light-weight, easy to carry, and it all fits easily in the back seat of my car.
· Suitability — It’s ideally powered for the type of small- to medium-sized indoor gigs that I tend to play. (For outdoor gigs with sound reinforcement, this rig becomes my on-stage monitor and I go straight out of the G-K into the PA board.)
· Affordability — Everything cost me just a little over a grand new (sans basses, of course).

What I’d change about it:
Nothin’ right now, really. I might eventually get a rack case for the G-K and effects unit, and add a power conditioner, but that’s about it.

any specific reason as to why you stack your cabs vertically? I have two 2x10 avatars and am curious to try putting them that way now.

Aligning all drivers in a straight vertical line should give you better midrange dispersion, meaning that the volume and tone the cabs put out is more consistent as you move horizontally with respect to your rig. Also it's easier to hear yourself with speakers closer to ear level.

The primary reason is due to the fact that most of the venues at which I play have extremely small stages, and the “vertical stack” method offers a smaller footprint. It also puts the head and effects unit at a more convenient location for making on-the-fly adjustments.

That is a bada$$ rig! :)
Thanks, Yeah it is maybe more than I need but it looks and sounds killer. Sound men groan when I roll in but once we run a sound check they are the first converts. The '75 Hiwatt DR201 is from SLADE's backline. They had it modded with a direct line out so all that thick, full, ballsy Hiwatt tone goes right to the board ! Way better than a DI, bigger places I run a mike to. It took me years to get this together, When I was young getting enough good gear together was a struggle, seems now there are so many good values out there, price vs performance.

Show us your Gig rig and what do you like about it and what would you change.

Here's mine.

I would love to get matching XST cabs (they are XLT) and try a different preamp out. The new Pope would be nice but I'm thinking BBE or Rocktron is more in my price range!

I also gig with this regularly for smaller shows. I wouldn't mind trying out a Schro 1212L in place of the Bag End and maybe use an Eden WT-550 for the head.

But then on the other hand...I have been kind of jonesin' for a new combo. Either the Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo or the Warwick Sweet 25.1 250W Bass Combo.

Maybe some time in the next ten years or so...:bawl:

Got any nice reds there, I like wine.

Why, as a matter of fact, yes I do.

None are over $100 a bottle and most are in the $15 to $20 range.

Milbrandt makes a 2005 Syrah that kills. Col Solare makes a red blend that tastes like berries and chocolate. Columbia Crest makes a Reserve Cab Franc that I am always out of...it just doesn't last long around here!.

My 'Go to' wine right now is a Columbia Crest Grand Estates 2000 Cab. Delicious and inexpensive. It had a great rating in Wine Spectator IIRC. 4 cases left and then it will be gone forever.

What do you like?
