Your ideal bass collection

Fender P '51 RI (got it)
Fender P '57 RI (getting one)
Fender J '62 RI (got it)
Fender J '75 RI or Geddy (looking for one)
Rickenbacker 4001 (mine got stolen a couple of years ago)
Stingray 4 (looking for one)
Jack Cassady Bass (just ordered one!)
An acoustic BG (will buy it when I find a nice one)
Upright (got it!)
A good fretless, possibly a stingray (don't have it)

As you can tell, I'm a fender kinda guy. Also, I opted for non-vintage basses. I have owned several, but the good ones are hard to find, the prices are bordering on insane and it hurts WAY too much when you lose them. Happened to me too many times. :(

I was just wondering what your ideal collection of basses would be. No amps, I'm afraid. Here's my list:

Spector NS2000/5 Holoflash
Spector NS4 20th Anniversary Edition(Purple)
G&L ASAT Blueburst( Do these come in 5-string?)
Ibanez BTB405QMTB
Warwick SS1 5-string
Warwick Infinity(Birdseye maple top)
MusicMan Stingray 4
ESP B305 in Vintage Sunburst

There's 8 basses. My ideal collection. I haven't listed any customs cos I'll never be able to afford that.

...and in the middle of your sig...

I do not like Warwick or Fender.

That makes me chuckle....

As for Pantera Fan, the original post was almost 2 years ago, so I suppose since then he has either finally played a Warwick, or just changed his mind. It is pretty funny though.

My ideal bass collection:
-Dingwall Prima 6 String (got it)
-Dingwall Prima 6 String Fretless
-F Bass BN6 (Coming)
-F Bass BNF6
-Conklin Sidewinder Custom Shop 6
-Kinal DK6-B

Let's see how close I get.

Geoff

Man, you gotta aim higher! Have you ever played an MTD? A Fodera? A Zon? A Roscoe? A Benavente? You'll never go back!

It's funny -- your sig says you don't like Warwick, yet you have 2 on your list.....:hmm:

Okey here, let's see...

-BTB405QMBB (got it!)
-Warmoth Gecko 5 (small neck)
-Warmoth Gecko 5 (medium neck)
-G&L L-2000 (probably my next one)
-Warwick Streamer Stage 2 5er (wishful thinking)
-MTD535 (also wishful thinking)
-Warwick Corvette Standard 4
-Peavey Cirrus 5/6 (very wishful thinking)
-Some kind of fretless bass, probably a 5er

I'd love one of those Roscoes with the awesome quilt tops (someone here has that red one... delicious!:D)

Damn my expensive taste, and all of you for making me have an expensive taste:D

All five-string fretteds... yeah, I'm simple that way!

Ken Smith Black Tiger ("wide 5" option)
Sadowsky ultra-vintage Precision 5
Music Man Sabre 5
Darrin Huff Z-series
Fodera EMperor
MTD 535 (got one)
Modulus Quantum 5 (got one)
Warwick SSI 5 (got one)
Fender RB5 (got two :) )

Let's see...

* A Wal for every mood (I've already got one for every day of the week)

* A Benavente Vortex 5 (this is on order)

* A Conklin Custom Shop 5 (I miss my melted top)

* An Sei Flamboyant headless 5 (oh my!)

* A Fodera Emporer Elite (just 'cause)

* A Jerzy Drozd 5/5 doubleneck (okay, now we're getting ridiculous...but, what the heck)

That's today's list...

Basses in my wish list:

1. Roscoe SKB-3006 with an amber stained Maple Burl top & Birdseye Maple fretboard, Spanish Cedar body - currently saving- will order in 1-2 months.
2. NS Design DB 5
3. Old Fender Jazz or Music Man Sting Ray (beat up)
4. Fretless F Bass 5 Never played one but from what I've heard, I want one.
5. MTD 5 or 6. How could you not want an MTD in your collection?

Ideal? Too long to list. It's up to 113 right now (counting different colors and tops of the same model). That would require winning the Lotto or something. Hell even one of each model would be a lot!

The collection I'll end up with?

Fodera 4-string (haven't decided what model yet).

Stambaugh single-cut 6-string. Since a Fodera's too expensive.

B.C. Rich Mockingbird. Or at least a Warmoth mockingbird body. A USA made supreme would be ideal but who knows if I can wing it.

Here is stuff i would to die to have. Of course I am forgetting many manufacturers....

4 strings:

Rogue (nah..not really)
Warmoth P w/ SD Basslines SPB-2 pickup
1970's Fender P
Pre-CBS Fender (if possible, SWEET)
Rick 4001, 4003
Pre-and-post Musicman Stingray, the Musicman one being fretless
Sadowsky J
FBB Custom "Dark" bass, tuned BEAD (i have the specs in my head)
To experiment = Based on the Jauqo subcontrabass, a custom Modulus 4 broadneck tuned C#-F#-B-E, with .210, .168, .135, .105 strings

5 strings:

FBB Custom, fretted
Hanewinckel Custom, unlined fretless
Zon Sonus Custom lined fretless
Sadowsky J (different from the 4 in specs); fretted
2 USA Spector Customs; in the natural finish and the blue transparent; fretted

6 strings:

Conklin Sidewinder fretless (unlined) with Lightwave bridge system
Hanewinckel fretted
Modulus fretted

Of course, none of this matters. What's important is playing well, and if you get 300 basses but cant play well, your suckyness will show through (COUGH COUGH DARKMAZDA COUGH COUGH)
:D :D
