Your Look On Stage

We tend to go with either black dress shirts and jeans, or black sport coats with dress shirts. Every time I see a band that looks like everyone else in the bar I think of how many bar owners have commented about how much more professional we are compared to the other local bands. I understand its more than what we wear, but its a part of the big picture. I'd like to take a moment to all the bands out there that start late, finish early, drink alot and look like sh*t, you guys make us look good.:bassist:

Our singer signed us up for a "battle of the bands" for the warped tour. I was told we'd be judged on appearance and got that hollow feeling in my gut. I hate work telling me what I can and cannot wear, and I certainly don't want to be told what to do when I'm having fun.

Maybe I'm just a jerk, but part of me just wants to go in flip flops, cargo shorts, and a bright yellow t-shirt just out of spite.

What sort of music do you play? It doesn't necessarily mean to suit up, just something that fits the style of your band.

If you play reggae, flip flops and a yellow t-shirt would be perfectly ok ;)

+1

If you aren't trying to do this for a living then you should be having fun.

I should totally join a reggae band!

We're an original rock band. They knew I'd have an immediate negative reaction to it, so they just said to "wear black." I think I can handle that ;)

Oh god, battle of the bands like that are the worst. It sucks to put that much effort into something that doesn't really do much for the band. They're asking you to sell tickets too, right? More often than not those things are just money making ploys entirely based on popularity.

Also, judging by many of the bands that end up on Warped tour, they take the whole "image" thing way more seriously than any band needs to.

We do Covermusic. Rock, Pop, Soul, Funk, Disco..Everything from the 70s to topactual Charthits.

We think, the Look is an importand Feature and many Bookers have told us, that they like that.

I would not describe it as so much importand when you do your own Music. It has to fit to your Style of Course, but I've always said, when you look on Stage like the People in the Crowd, you have done something wrong.

As a Coverband we sell Entertainment and we think, the whole Package is important. The Way you sound, the way you look, the way you act and entertain on Stage...We change our Clothes from Set to Set.

For Example: Disco Set

Being on stage is a great excuse/chance for me to cross-dress.
Just a simple dress, tights, lipstick, some kind of messy more girlish hair do. I can cite Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice as an inspiration to my look. :hiding:

Oh really :p
