Your main bass, and why?

Past several years its been an EB Musicman Stingray 5. I have a couple of very playable 4 strngs, but I've gotten too used to all of the extra note choices that the low B string gives. I'd love to try the new Fender 5 string P, but can't find one.

Don't let anyone tell you that a Stingray is a "one trick pony". What a crock, that bass will do anything, at least as well, as anything else.

Main, go-to bass: Warwick Corvette Standard 4-string.

I have this funny sickness (it's like a mutated strain of G.A.S.) where I hoard a bunch of gear and then I sell it off. I try not to, but it always happens. But the 'wick vette stays. Even now - I have 6 basses that sit in gigbags and cases - I leave the house with a bass in hands? It's the Warwick.

Main bass is a P Lyte with Duncan QP P/Dimarzio Ultrajazz J (might try a QP there, too) and the active electronics replaced with passive. Why? It's light, has a great feeling neck, and sounds like a regular Fender PJ. I'd rather have an AmStd Precision, but I don't think my shoulder can take it anymore.

I can concur.. mine seems to weigh as much as my Brute and Squier... combined!

My main is a '09 MiM P strung with La Bella flats. I feel like I'm cheating because some people are looking for their tone all their life and I have found it while I'm still young... (saves me a lot of money to boot, no GAS either)

PS: Sorry for the blurry picture, my cam is acting up

I have 5 bass guitars, all of the same level and price category. And while I like all of them and they get a lot of rotation, I can say that my main bass is a '98 Fender American Deluxe Jazz. Why do I prefer it slightly over the others? Mainly it is the weight, and (now listen to this, LOL) it always has a cable in it's case while the others don't...
The Hamer needs a new output jack (not broken but loose), The Gibson Q-80 isn't that versatile in tone, the RD quite heavy, and the Fender Am Dlx J fretless is nice to have but I still need some practice on fretless.

My main bass is the OLP MM2, upgraded with a SD SMB-4A pickup and a SD STC-3M3 preamp. I also installed a Hipshot D-tuner so I can downtune that E string to D at the flick of a lever.

I've had many other basses, still have a few, some a lot cheaper (really!), some more expensive like Warwicks (I had two simultaneously a Corvette STD and a Corvette $$, I love them). But this is the bass I play at home and gig with. It just feels and sounds right to me, and I like the fact that it didn't cost a lot. I had to level the frets when I bought it (second hand) and get a new nut, but structurally that was it.

I liked it so much, that my backup bass (when I do take one) is another OLP MM2. This one still has stock electronics, but I have an Aguilar OBP-3 and another SD SMB-4A pickup for it.

I have three other basses at the moment. One is a Warwick Corvette $$, which gets little action outside the house.

I played it a lot with a band I recently quit, blues/funk/hip-hop mix. I have an old Ibanez SR400 with flatwounds, which I also played on that band and I only use when I want the old-style "thud" of the flatwounds.

The third bass is a very very cheap Wesley Monarch, which turned out to be very very nice. I changed pickups and installed a 3-band preamp and it's delicious. But I go to the OLPs first. This picture is from before I changed pickups and added preamp.

On my current only band, I use the two OLPs. I am nominally in another band after they had a reshuffle and needed a bass player. I play the Warwick there, but so far we are not gigging. My backup there will probably be the Wesley, just because it'll be a crime not to use it live and the OLPs get enough action. This second band does not require much slapping (which is something I love the OLPs for) so I'll stick with the warwick (serious thick deep growl, and the Wesley).

Thi is a very tough decision for me. Because all of my basses I love. I will try.

My first bass would be my Musicman Sterling. It gets such a great tone. Has a very modern tone.

My next bass would be my 92 MIM Fender Jazz bass. It gets a great tone to it. unlike my Musicman, It has a very vintage tone. great bass.

My third choice would be my 04 MIM Fender Jazz 5 upgraded with a Badass V, SD Basslines, and an Audere JZ3. tonal Monster! So versitle.

And last but not Least, My Brice HXP-406 6 string bass. My first 6 string. A great bass. Truely a Bang for your buck deal.
