Too much celebration for Pittsburgh Tuesday night. After the first inning, they got rolled up by the Brewers Wednesday night. Liriano was throwing beach balls. But hey, it's OK. One game does not a season make.

Big Papi missed a PAT in last nights Patriots win, so it was only 20-4 over the Lions.

Another series win for the Red Sox - 3 of 4 over the Yanks.

The good news is that Buchholz is back and will start on Tuesday against the Rays.

The bad news is that Ellsbury is in a walking boot with a non-displaced fracture. I hope this doesn't mean that the teams will be limping to the finish line.

The Pirates will have a winning season for the first time since 1992. Nice game in Arlington last night that I fully expected them to lose. One game behind St. Louis now, who was idle Monday night. Marlon Byrd scores the winning run, 1-0 final, in a great pitching duel.

Yikes, Melancon made it interesting last night for the Pirates, but they hung on for the win. Liriano picked up another win and McCutchen lead the way offensively. Being in first place is great, but I find it more exciting being the chase team. Well, as long as the Pirates aren't the chase team after game number 162 is played.

I have been watching the Braves play. I have been watching other playoff contending teams play.
The Braves don't seem to be playing at the same level as the other contending teams, I'm sad to say. Players are not stepping up to fill voids and there are 3 high-dollar players who should be riding the pine. So, either the Braves are one round and done or they're sandbagging. Don't know which.

With a 12 game lead in the division, I'm thinking sandbagging. However, home field advantage is starting to be at stake as they are only 2 ahead of the Dodgers and 3 over the Cards.

Interesting wild card race in the AL - six teams within 3 games. KC is one of them - would make a nice counterpart to Pittsburgh. KC is back 3 games with a lot of teams in front of them, but you never know.

To the OP. Your Giants are playing the Dodgers tonight for the opening of the 4 game series. Even though the Dodgers are on top of the NLW and the Giants are on the bottom, I would not be surprised if the Giants take at least 2 out of the four games. I think the Giants will get pumped up and play well just cause they like to beat their rival, the Dodgers. Guess we will see over the next few days.

We got us a tie in the NL Central, again!

Cool to see Freddy Garcia pick up the win for Atlanta last night. I have been a fan of Garcia since his Seattle days. It's been a few years between wins for Garcia, so I was happy to happy to see his line and the W next to his name. 2007 I think it was the last time he won a game.
