your progression on amps

I'm not sure if I can remember everything, but I'll give it a try.

Since 1999:

EBS Taurus
David Eden WT-800
Mesa Boogie 400+ w/ Galanti cab
David Eden WT-800 (again) w/ Eden 410T cab
Switched to two Eden 210T cabs
Bought a Traynor YBA Mark-1 amp
Bought an Ampeg SVT 4Pro w/ two Aguilar GS112 cabs
Bought a Bad-End 115 cab
Bought a Roland Cube 15 (for practice)
Bought a Ampeg SVT Classic Anniversary
Bought a Ampeg B2-R w/ Ampeg 210 and 410 Classic cabs

Now I mainly use the SVT Classic Anniversary with the Ampeg cabs, but I still own the B2-R and SVT 4Pro. And the Roland Cube for practice.

All the other stuff is gone.

People say you never stop shop'ing gear, but now I've used the SVT for over a year, and I'm pretty sure I will never get rid of the Ampeg gear.

Basses: '64 Fender Jazz, and a Lakland Darryl Skyline
I've recently bought a Double Bass (made in 1816!) that gets most of my time.

Umm...let's see...been playing for over 20 yrs, so I apologize in advance to any amps I might offend by forgetting to include them...

Roland 50W w/homebuilt 115
Yamaha B-100 II
Roland JC120 (for practice used internal spkrs, for performance used a Musicman cab...)
Peavey TNT cut out of a dead/smashed combo as a head, Musicman 210 cab, and another Musicman 210 rebaffled for a 15...
Peavy Mark IV/ 410B
SWR Baby Blue 2x8
Peavey MicroBass
Peavey Minx 110
Peavey MegaBass w/Crate 215, later with Ampeg 410HE
Eden WT300 w/ two 210T's
IVP pre with Behringer EP1500
BBE BMax w/Soundtech PS802 (still in use)
Behringer BX1200 combo
Behringer BX3000T head with Avatar B212 (still in use, main gig rig)
EBS 311 cab (still in use with BBE/Soundtech rackbag)

Looking forward to getting a MarkBass Little Mark II, perhaps the 210 combo version.

hey everybody im new and come from bassworld.co.uk but my account broke :(

but i started 2 years ago,

stagg 20B ( yes mate)
presonus valve tube pre
hollywood 480 watt power amp
laney 210

then i decided the tube pre was not versatile enough for me so i changed it to a behringer VAMP pro which i have now.

i hope to keep upgrading it further and further, and i intend on keeping to rack stuff.

cheers,
matt

I,ll give this a shot off the top of my head.

Crate Bx15
Carvin Rl 1000
Carvin 4x10
Carvin 1x15
SWR Sm 500
SWR 2x15
SWR 1x15
SWR 4x10
SWR 1x18
SWR 2x10
SWR 6x10
Ampeg SVT 4 pro
Ampeg BXT 4x10 HLF

I hope I wont have to add anymore to that list for a long time to come.:p

I'm sure I've posted in this thread before, but not in a while. Sold off most of the big stuff, holding onto the items that aren't so easy to replace.

Usually I just play my Sound City through its 215 nowadays, but if I needed to play an Arena I've still got my 400PS, it'll power 3 810s and those are easy to rent. Sold my Genz Benz... now my only solid state amp is a Trace Elliot Boxer 65. Terrible amp. From the looks of it, a 65 watt amp with a 50 watt Celestion that looks like a guitar speaker, couldn't turn it past half way up without popping the speaker. Replaced it with a Carvin bass 12 and I just use it as a cab now.

Let's see. Rock'ola juke box amplifier, two fender Bandmaster heads running through two 2-12" cabinets and a 2-15",Carvin solid-state head that I bought new in '76 through two 1-15" Fender open-back cabs, then the same Carvin through Cerwin-Vega B36-MF folded horn(1-18"+2-10"),Wilder solid-state amp(pre-amp in the head and power amp in speaker cab) with 2-12" speakers, Acoustic 140 combo, '66 Vox Essex combo, Acoustic 140 head through Gibson Atlas 1-15"(Peavey Black Widow in this cab) and finally Sunn Beta Bass head with the Atlas/BW cab and a home-made 2-10" cab with Eminence Delta 10B's.
I'm going to add to this list, my latest acquisition: Ashdown MAG 300H(my first NEW amp in 30 years). I'll be running it through the Atlas/BW and the home-brewed 2-10".

Okay, this started around '84.

-15 watt Gorilla combo( I remember it had this funny switch called funkbass or something like that... hilarious!)
-used various crate and fender combos that I didn't own.
-big 70's Peavey 400 head and barrowed JBL, Peavey and Bullfrog cabs.
-Hartke 7000 (thought I was getting a top of the line model... it sounded like hairy butt:eek:.)
-Peavey Mk8 (suprisingly great tone and easy to get)
-Carvin RL410T(great 410, never a problem)
-Ampeg SVT400T(awesome head, just needed more power)
-Carvin PB-500 head(great sound, never a problem)
-usually ran a bass driver in the signal around this time.
-killer modified all tube Sunn 300T
-Ampeg SVP preamp with 5 vintage RCA red labels-massive tone!! Can hit bowels hard!
-Sansamp bddi rackmount in the effects loop
-Ampeg SVP1500 power amp
-Schroeder 1210 - I don't need to comment.

I think that is it.

-AIMS 110w tube head and Fender 1x15 cab (should've kept this)
-Crate BX100
-SWR 350x and Goliath III cab
-ThunderFunk TFB420 and Schroeder 1212

I'm done for awhile. :)

I played guitar for a long time and went through a gazillion amps to finally settle on Orange (although I might say I like my old Budda Superdrive 80 the best).

I started playing bass a couple years back and my rig went like this:

Fender Bassman 25
Eden WT400 + Eden D112XLT
Eden WT400 + Eden CX110 (for small things)
Eden WT550 + CX110 or Dr. Bass BL2260 (yes the infamous Dr. Bass)

I think I'm set and I really don't think I'll be spending like I have the past 10 years or so. but if I ever get another bass amp, I'd like something that can get a little overdriven.

-Sears Silvertone tube amp with matching 1x15 cab
-Acoustic 134 + Earth 2x15 (still own both)
-Sunn Beta Bass combo-briefly, hated it
-Peavey TNT
-Peavey TKO
-Ampeg SVP-Pro, Carvin DCM2000, (2) Sunn 410h, Sunn 215-monster rig!
-Peavey Max preamp--with above power amp + cabs
-Peavey 410 TVX, Peavey 115 TVX---with Max, + Carvin DCM 2000
-Peavey Pro Bass 1000-blah!
-SWR Workingman's 210 + 115--with Max + Carvin DCM 1500
-Peavey Pro 500-with Wokingman's cabs, later Pro series
-Sunn 300T--why did I sell this? :bawl:
-SWR Goliath jr. III + SOB--used with Pro 500 or Sunn
-SWR Workingman's 12
-Aguilar GS212
-Acoustic Image Focus 1, Series 2
-SWR Workingman's 410
-Behringer BX3000T

I think that's it. I still own the following:
Acoustic + Earth
(1)Sunn 410h
SWR Goliath jr. III + SOB
SWR Workingman's 12
Acoustic Image Focus
Behringer BX3000T
Carvin power amps

I wish I still owned the Sears amp, the Peavey Pro 500, and all of the Sunn gear.
