I actually had to call my guitar player who was already inside the club so we could convince the bouncer I WAS in the band. I had loaded my gear before his shift started. I was the lead singer...(+bass)

I saw Matthew Sweet open for Melissa Etheridge (in support of her "Yes I Am" cd). After his first couple songs the crowd started hollering out requests. He looked to the side of the stage and told his crew to listen to the crowd and have those guitars ready. The rest of his show was "request only."

I was sharing the room with our drummer. It was about 6:00am and I had just woke up.

He says "Where exactly are we anyhow??"

I said "I think it's Louisiana."

We opened the drawer on the night stand.

like i've said before, it's because drummers can't hear how the band sounds from behind their kit and guitar players & singers only pay attention to themselves

it's us bass players who listen to the entire band.

anyway, by all accounts from my friends doing indie rock tours, all these examples (except the cover song and friends/family ones) mean you are on tour

I get the feeling a lot of the people posting in this thread have never played outside their hometown. Honestly you guys don't know what touring is. I've been on "real" tours playing arenas and festivals, with 2 tour buses full of band and crew, and you still have to deal with the same stuff. It's just on a larger scale.

I am sure that some have toured and some have not.

But it's not important. Just a bit of a laugh.
