Zon basses - is everything OK ?

Hi everyone!

Update from me: I received two emails from Joe in January, both of which promised the bass by the end of the same month. The second email was that the bass would be ready in about a week, which would have put the bass completion at February 3rd. I’m assuming all parts are in his possession, and that what remains is final assembly, finishing, and setup. FWIW, both of Joe’s replies in January were nearly immediate, with one reply coming in about an hour after sending, and the second one coming in sooner than that.
I checked in late last week again, and no response. I do feel like I’m close, but wanted to give you guys an update.

So he missed both dates.

@bigsnack I had been wondering, and felt pretty sure that if you had gotten a bass you'd have said something... I feel sorry to hear that it did not happen and that you're still getting jerked around.
Time for a phone call?

In the same boat. Was promised an instrument first by the new year then beginning of February. Joe is aware I’m leaving for an extended work trip Friday. Called emailed finally received the supply chain excuse so maybe by the time I return the supply chain will fix itself. Extremely disappointed. It is the continued false promises that destroys my hope.

Same here. I don't believe a call will do any good, because at this point the only words I'd want to hear are "It's shipping today and here is the tracking number."

I understand. I suspect, though, that you going silent just allows him to forget the issue and focus on other stuff that's more enjoyable (basses that are easier to finish and get to happy customers) and that continued contact, keeping this on his mind (and the discomfort that goes with it) might help the "supply chain issues" resolve more quickly.

(Mod edit: quote of deleted post)

You aren’t looking closer, and aren’t saying anything that hasn’t been said 10 times. He didn’t move because he wasn’t paying rent- it was because he was in an area in the Bay Area that has become incredibly expensive, where landlords have been skyrocketing rent in recent years. It’s a common (crappy) story- tech companies will pay the rent, and small businesses get shafted. It’s not an unusual or unique story here. But all this was said earlier.

Mod here.

This thread exists for two primary purposes: support / info sharing for people directly involved; warning for those who may be thinking of ordering a bass. There may certainly be other valid reasons to post, but speculation or conspiracy theories or threats of 'what you'd do if' are not welcome, not appropriate, and are considered trolling.

Joe s shop is 1 hour from my house.

In defense of him:

I talk to him once month or more about ordering a bass.
and he was explaining that his suppliers are way behind in supplying him the parts.

So he is in a bind waiting for parts...

which probably stuck on some ship waiting to unloaded.
And all other suppliers n shops are in a similar predicament!

Hope this helps!

Thank you for addressing this.

Would there be a way to create a post (maybe at the beginning of the thread) that tracks the people who are waiting and what their wait times have been? There are side long-haulers (3+ years) and some of us that have not hit the anticipated delivery dates yet. Further, there are others who have received instruments.

I think this would very much fit the intent of this sub, and be very useful for people considering placing deposits. I'm not sure if it would work within the constraints of this software however.

In fairness, yes, this is absolutely a problem across the industry in the last few years, but has been the story of the problem for the last 10+ years. Story has never changed- just unquestionably real now with current supply chain problems.

Look at the first post of this thread.

Look at the first post of this thread.
Those are just the instruments that are well past their due dates. Over the course of this thread many people have wondered what, if any, instruments have been delivered. So my proposal is for a list of known instruments received or still on order since then.

I think listing the ones that have been received may paint a clearer picture as to what's getting delivered and what's not.
