Zon basses - is everything OK ?

It costs sustantially more to do a set-neck (Legacy) than a bolt-on (Sonus).
And as mentioned, many of these instruments have zero problems. My LES6 has an iron-flat neck despite the lack of a truss rod.

I guess I should have laid out on this one. I wasn’t implying that non truss rod models inherently have problems. And I’m definitely glad to hear so many people having them with no issues.
Not at all; the fact that it happens occasionally is valuable info, especially for those considering a secondhand instrument

In my mind, the frequency with which this happens, given that it is a potential thing albeit rare it would seem to some, is secondary to the cost of the repair and the current issues with the shops communications and timelines. I love Joe (or at least I used to) but damn.. I wish he would get it together, for the sake of how great his instruments are, and how beloved they are by his customers.

Up until recently, Zon would have been a consideration for laying down the $$$ on an 8-string fretless.
In my humble opinion, the issue here is strictly one of communication. If Joe would have given regular updates I don't think this thread would have existed. If he had given updates on slipped timing with a reason for delay and a recovery date, it would have been totally different. You can't expect a customer to sit there and be content with no information after a promised ship date has passed.
I have a bass on order from a builder that I won't mention. The original promise date was 9 months after I placed the deposit. We are now over 3 years in and I don't really have a promise date at this time. I would be much more willing to wait patiently if there was some level of proactive communication from the builder. The fact is that many builders are artists, not business people and this gets them into trouble. I hope Joe is watching this thread and sees that so many people love his work but he is damaging his own reputation with his business practices.

Let's see what the timeframe is for delivery of my new Sonus-8 before you get too carried away 
And if the new one comes out as expected, it will truly be drool-worthy.
Currently there is some hardware that I have on order for my bass that is backordered with a 4 month lead time. When it arrives I will hand deliver it to Joe. At that point we will finalize my order (there have been some changes/updates along the way, but so far nothing that has delayed the build) and I'll sit back and wait. The final item I'm concerned about is the bridge. I want the Zon bridge and that could become a major delay if it's not in production soon.

I think I'd go with Carribean blue or purple for my build.

Well, I understand you have a Sonus 8 in yellow, and seem to like cats that are the opposite color of ours...It's one of those colors. But there will be a few surprises. And if you know anything about me, you know there will be no Bartolinis anywhere near that thing

anything ? Since returning I have emailed and called the shop multiple times and have received absolutely no response from them. Becoming more concerned.
Hey hey. Nothing since being told the bass was on the bench. That was over two weeks ago, and I followed up early this week but did not hear back.
