Zoom MS-60B announced... at last

the only way I can possibly think of that would result in a delay would be if you have an echo/delay/reverb (or some other virtual FX with a delay parameter) in the virtual path within the Zoom's presets. assuming you going from bass to Zoom to amp, start off with a totally empty preset that has only either a bypassed effect or Line Selector (Line Sel) in the virtual fx chain.

When you say you're not using delays in the "chains" do you mean the "A-B-C" preset chain, or the virtual stomp box "chain" that lies within each preset, that contains up to 4 virtual effects (which on some presets are in various states of engaged or bypassed)?

Really curious to hear what you users think of the 3 patches I created. They are the last 3, with "PB" as a preface. I'd love your feedback.
Also, to anyone says that these Zoom units aren't for the pros, I must have missed that memo.
This is a pic of me, rocking out 2 B3's, in front of 13,000 of my closest friends.

Last weekend I used the PB Clean preset (#28) for a small club gig running the MS60B in the effects loop of my GK head, with the head set on a very flat/neutral setting. It's not often that I can get through a gig in a place that is an acoustical He!! - all brick walls and large pane glass windows flanking the stage in a 4 piece (2 gtr, bass, drums) rock format - without having to mess with the tone a bit. But damn, that preset was money in the bank from the word GO! The only change i made was to change the Ensemble to a Bass Detune for a more prominent chorus effect, and left this stomp available to engage/bypass it as needed. Everything else was left alone.

This preset alone is worth the price of this box IMO, and I'm sure there will be a LOT more I'll be using this for when I get some time to work on programming & preset schemes.

I had an MS-50G for awhile that did the same thing. Somehow I I was adding delay do whatever effect I would use. I think it was because I was somehow adding it to every effect I would tab up or down too. I solved the problem by resetting the unit to factory specs.

I'm not sure if I'm imagining it, but the same settings saved in one patch sound different than another patch with the same exact amp settings only in a different position in the chain. I was a/b-ing my favorite setting for the acoustic amp yesterday & the patch where I saved the amp in position 4 sounded better than the patch where it was in position 2, everything else being identical, the other positions were set to thru & engaged?

What do you mean set to thru & engaged? Those are two different things I would think. Having an amp sim, or any effect model, in a different place is supposed to sound different. That's how regular pedals work, one feeds off the other's signal/effect.

Can you list a couple of the patch chains you've created that are doing this? What effects do you have programmed in the four slots for each one?

I meant I have the "through" setting in the unused positions & in the engaged setting or on, not that it should matter.

Last weekend had two festival gigs with the zoom ms-60b, mainly used for octave, mcomp, reverb and tuner. Love this thing! Band mates also loved how the octaver worked on my bass solo. I got great compliments about it! Its a keeper!

I really like my 60B but I'm having noisy troubles. It's gotten a lot worse since I switched out my active EMG's for passive sd antiquity II's. Its bad. I thought I'd like the passives but I don't. I'm an active kind of guy and I'm flopping these out very soon to get my EMG's back in my baby. Anyone else exp the noisy noise of the 60B at all too? I noticed it with my active bass too. Not as bad as with the passives though.

Actually, I'm pretty surprised at how quiet it is. Granted, I'm not using any of the 'amp sim' stuff - but unless I start boosting treble eq in some of the effects modules, it's very quiet!

I've discovered mine does not like to share a power supply though. Something like a One Spot daisy-chaining with other pedals definitely adds noise.

I had some interference type noise until I upped the size of my power supply. I'm daisy chaining everything. I added up the current draw of all my pedals and it was real close, so I got a 2A one spot and it has been quiet as ever since.

I ordered the original Zoom AD-16 power supply while I was at it. I have on a rare occation experienced noise problems when using a no-brand power supply for effect pedals, so the original supply seems like a good idea to me.

I'm only using if by itself with the batteries in it. I think my passive pups aren't grounded very well. It's sort of nil at the point, I'm putting my EMG's back in my P anyway.

It actually tells you in the display that the batteries are running low. In case no one mentioned it, the pedal uses 2 double A's. NOT a 9 volt. Not sure how that's possible.

I've only had it for a few weeks now and they're the same fresh batteries I put in it when I got it. I only play with it alone. I have done some extensive noodling on it but not a crazy amount of time spent with it yet.

500mA?
I doubt it. I think that may be what the power supply can put out. But a pedal drawing 500mA would not last a lot on two AA batteries.

It's supposed to last 4 hours. That's not a lot. 2 double A's are not that powerful.

My guess is that the 500 ma helps keep the noise down.

I am not saying that it draws 500mA. I suspect it is like any digital processing device that it draws more when the processor works hard and more when the display is on. 500mA is just to provide the headroom for the peaks of power consumption, so it doesn't run out of juice.

But it is not purely digital, the inputs and outputs are analog. If it works really hard and you don't have the headroom, its power level may become unstable and erratic. That is a good way to achieve unwanted noise in the analog circuits.
