This thread has gotten interesting. I feel like a killjoy to say I recently replaced my mostly MXR pedal board and DI with a G3. I like trick things like swiss army knives, so it appeals to me. A lot less wires too.

I feel lucky (or unlucky?) that Zoom doesn't update their product line every 6 months like Samsung phone, otherwise my house will full of Zoom stuffs.
I don't have a B3 anymore, but I do have an MS60B now so I'm still a Zoomer. I like that a single patch I made in the MS gets me my always-on compression and noise gating, footswitchable overdrive, and a muting tuner. Even if I never use any other patches it's still worth more than its single-pedal price.
Hi all, I want to try using DI for the first time. Guitarist brought along a small mixer with a couple of speakers the other evening, and we put two mic's and an iPad for some backing tracks through it. He also mentioned he had a sub that could go with it.
So, I'm thinking that instead of buying a bigger combo than the 15w Rumble I'm using now, or a cab lighter than my 410; I would try utilising the DI in my Zoom B2.1u and one of the amp emulations.
Is there any special feature I need to look for in the cable I need? I believe it is XLR at each end; so will any XLR cable do the business for me?

@RedVee Depending on the mixer the xlr out might overload a channel on the mixer, if that is the case you can just use a standard guutar cable into a line input on the mixer.
I am adding another Zoom to my collection an MS100bt, that already has additional effects installed.
You can use only XLR line level inputs,not Mic level XLR.Small mixers usually don't have that kind of line ins.
I think I might qualify. There's a B1-on, MS-50G and MS-100BT on here...
Ok... Don't really understand that and what I do to utilise it.
I was thinking: buy a xlr cable, plug it in to b2 & mixer and give it a burl.
But I don't want to blow his mixer up or anything drastic like that.
Yes, the xlr out on Zoom efx are line level mics are a much lower level, very often the input on mixers will be overloaded causing noise or distortion.
Ok. So still a decent experiment. I'll buy a cable and try it, if it is no good I'll use a guitar cable between zoom and mixer.

Longtime Zoom user here that would definitely appreciate a number! I bought a B9.1ut a couple years back, and it was everything I needed & more. Here's a year-old vid of one of the sounds I programmed into it. Pretty much just a no-frills hard-driven GK tone.
