Found an odd Status which just arrived. Pretty ridiculous instrument, plays incredibly. Seems to be the real deal, I think it’s a Rhino signature model. The serial number is hand written below the bridge, this normal?

I have one in my Jazz bass and it's excellent. The LED is a great feature. This particular one just had issues.

As someone who has owned a bunch of Fo’s I’d say the smith wins this battle. Pretty safe to say a Fodera standard won’t be the same quality as a smith

I’m fairly “close” to the seller and reached out, out of curiosity and he is open to trades and offers.

I also love my 77 Engelhardt, warts and all. It is what it is. Does what I need. But hey , I love mid 70’s Fender Jazz basses. Warts and all. So, there is that…

Etsy sells one for the SR1350B that is 3D printed black plastic, stays in place by friction, for about $80. Problem is it comes from NZ. Shipping might be as much as the purchase price?

Great playing and tone

OK so I got the parts and opened up my mezzo, looks different from the one in the video.

I've had quite good luck with the Vic's, plus you already have one. The preamp that has made the most difference and improvement for me has been the RedEye. I'm not nearly as picky as I used to be about amplification but this simple pairing works well enough tonally with just amp equing and is easy and reliable. I've tried many. Go with decent and simple.JMO

I have hz in 2 basses and they seem to work great for me. They are pretty loud. Not as loud as some but better than others. The tone is good especially if you have eq and preamp pedals to get things where you want.

Just got #347, doesn’t seem to have any issues with the pots or lack any tone for bass guitar. A little on the dark side, likes treble.

Happy 6th of July! I'm back in the saddle.

If you are going to use EMG active pickups, to avoid incompatibility, you are better off using the EMG pre and/or ABC (or ABCX if you are using X-series pickups). Quiet - >-100 dB noise floor. Reliable - I have used mine in regular gigging for more than a decade with no issues. Modular - everything plugs in with no need to solder. Versatile - you can wire it any way you choose for your preferred signal path. Don't waste your time trying to mix-and-match. Do it right the first time and gig it for the rest of your playing days.

I take it you mean something like a Lakland Skyline 55-2? Look, this is precision routing. If you are not sure of your routing skills, take it to a qualified luthier, If you rout the pickup cavity a little larger, no big deal. But I have tried to rout pickguards. It wasn't pretty. My best effort left gaps. Yes, please take it to a qualified luthier. Then you can sort out how you want the electronics later.

Also looking to go headless, there’s some brand new ones for sale on Reverb. 14 day return period, hmmm…..

Going to try everything AgedHorse and Nebado suggested today and will get back with y'all.

The Aguilar on-board preamp is running with the 9V battery but the signal output seems lower than my passive P Bass. I'm contemplating adding another 9V battery to the cavity in series to bump it up to 18V. Wondering if anyone has tried this and how it worked out?
