    Squier Owners Club

Most of my basses are Squiers, all but a couple, and I still own them all. My first was the Standard series PJ Special (c.2006); my latest a CV70s Precision in walnut (c.2021). The Affinity P-Bass is probably the most comfortable of the; the Affinity J-Bass plays unbelievably well. I'm a...

Bass VI: best selling BASS guitar of 2022!

I have #16 (as well as some Affinitys and a Sire) and reach for it first. Squier Classic Vibe '70s Precision

    Octave sounds flat

In my case I'm pretty sure my ears are messed up. I used to have impeccable hearing/tuning, with a background as an oboist and orchestral percussionist. Now, at age 66, on every bass I own, I have that "flat octave" problem that extends to many intervals, not just octaves. As I rock drummer I...

    Fender Price increase overnight

Looks like some Squiers just went up @ $10, too. I just bought a CV 70s Precision from Sweetwater a week or so ago and today it's $10 more.

Any Advice On A Squier Affinity V Jazz

I just ordered one (sunburst) from GC this evening using their 15% off special they are running. I meant to ask where it is made. I understand the 'hit & miss' aspect of the Affinities. I have a PJ (white) that is amazing out of the box; a red Jazz IV that is also amazing until you try to turn...

    Thinking about walking away

I'm really a drummer; been playing since the early 70s, multi-degreed, etc. I finally walked away from the music biz a few years ago because of the people it attracts. No one can seriously hold it against you if you did the same.

Run-in with the police on stage last night

Touching them can be a felony assault on a p.o. charge; don't be tricked.

I'm Looking for a PJ Bass with a Jazz Neck

Squier Standard Series PJ Special. Very nice bass, though the neck can be temperamental. Plays well; sounds great; Jazz neck. VM replaced this series, but Standards are out there used, I'm sure.

Do you forget stuff at gigs and rehearsals?

I'm a drummer. Once got to a gig to realize I'd left all of my brass at home. Had to literally play the gig without any form of cymbal, just drums. Utterly humiliating.

    The Mediocre Bassist Club

I finally attained mediocre level, though cannot guarantee I'll maintain it. Two music degrees and a percussion background have helped. Hopefully, I get some points for amassing a collection of cheap basses + one not so cheap (Sire V7). Would be elated to be a number-carrying member of MBC.

Any tips on how to be ok with bad drummer?

Can you imagine an above average drummer, schooled from the street to the university level; pro manners, good gear, backing vox...the whole package; who was repeatedly ignored, dismissed, used/discarded, etc. over a course of decades; finally packed away all his gear and diplomas, left the music...

    Kaye Bass Lines 1 - 6

I'm just starting into the full set of Carol Kaye's "Electric Bass Lines" No. 1 (1969) -- 6 (1980) that I picked up on eBay last week for not much dinero. I feel like I scored a big piece of bass guitar history! There is no tab anywhere; every note is shown in conventional notation. I assume...

    NBD: Squier P-Bass Special (POLL)

I bought a P Bass Special in 2007. Came with a mirror p.g.; only mod I made was to immediately replace that with a white one (because it was free; otherwise I'd have bought a white pearl replacement).

    Mustang Sally sighting

I jumped into a classic rock cover band recently, on drums. Mustang Sally was on their songlist. Now it's on the "by request only" list.

    Peavey 3620 For Practice Space

It wasn't. I watched that ad for several days. Peavey tech advised I repair tear with Loctite super glue and give it 48 hours to cure. It's curing now.
