It's not exactly in your neighborhood, but there is one for sale in Norway: Invalid Link Removed I have both a 1001RB-II and a 300W meatsmoke, and the 1001RB is a bit louder, but the MS is an absolute beast.

I have a GK 1001RB-II with neo cabs (410 and 212). Really versatile, punchy, great sounding rig. Kinda hard to get the GK "growl" from it without blowing speakers, though. It's great for pretty much anything except being a big tube amp, and that's why I also have a Verellen Meatsmoke and an...

I usually roll off the treble quite a bit and boost the high mids a little. I don't change the EQ especially for pushing the amp, though. My GK cabs have tweeters, but I don't normally use them.

^This. A good, fairly transparent compressor can make you sound better, but it will not fix your mistakes. A compressor with enough squeeze to "fix" bad right hand technique will probably not make anyone sound better... A little compression somewhere before the preamp makes your attacks...

I second (third?) the LMB-3. It's reasonably priced, solid, and gets the job done. It does hiss a little if you use the "enhance" knob, but otherwise it's pretty quiet. Also the BBE Opto-stomp is nice. Or at least was nice. I've heard that the newer ones are not as good.

All the good stuff on the 1001rb (and 700rb) happens in the power amp, so it makes sense to make that work and adjust the volume with the preamp. I'm not sure if it says so in the manual, but I've always done it this way. Master usually at around 75%, no boost, and as much volume as the cab or...

I don't think it will be a problem. It's called "slim", but it's not really a thin neck - it's actually fatter than quite a few of my other bass necks, and with the steel/graphite rods in there, I'm expecting it to be quite stable.

Thanks :) Slim taper, 1 11/16 at the nut. It's as comfortable as my SR705, which kinda surprised me. I don't know the thickness, but I think the measurements are on the Warmoth website.
