Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I've been loving this one even for at home practice. It sounds good even at relatively low volume. It does sound better louder though because the power amp saturation. I've got a tronographic rusty box ordered to push it a little. It sounds good with some extra gain into the front. Right now...

Ended up scoring a 1001rb mark 2 mounted in a 2x10. I've been trying to find any other examples of one of these. I've seen lots of mark 1s but so far this is the only one with a mark 2 I've found. It seems like alot of amp fir a 2x10. Gonna sound sick in the new project.

One of my buddies here in tulsa is wanting to start a new project and asked me to play bass. I haven't played just regular bass in a band in years. I'm pretty excited for it. Probably not a doom project, but it should be fun regardless.

We've been busy lately. Played a show almost every week over the last month. Tracked and have been mixing a split with another local tulsa band, got some new stickers for merch. Been trying to figure out how to play some loops while I'm tuning, because the silence gets awkward. Bought a boss...

It's a real bummer on the Steve Albini news. He's one of my favorite producers.

There are a few companies out there making more bassy bass vi pickups. I tried some Curtis novak that sounded great, but they were still alot thinner and more stock sounding. The lollars I found alot fatter and warmer. I actually changed my bridge pickup out for a barenuckle p90 Stockholm as...

I use a bass vi exclusively for my two piece band. I've heavily modified mine, but if your goal is to get it more basslike I'd recommend first going up in string guage. I've used the stringjoy bass vi heavy guage set 26 to 95 for a long time. We play in drop e so now I've gone even further...

Currently I'm just using a shure sm58. My drummers using a sennheiser e945 supercardioid mic to try and reject as much of the drums from his vocal mic as possible. I'd honestly like to switch an e945 ir 935 as well in the future. I think his mic sounds alot better than my shure. We always set...

Yeah I feel this pain. We practice in a like 10x10 concrete room. I ended up finally breaking down and buying IEMs just so I could hear my vocals. We played our first show with them the other day and I actually could sing in tune for the first time ever. It's also let me lay back on my screams...

Guess ill jump in with my end of the year blog post. My pedalboard, I think, has finally stabilized. I'm pretty happy with the sounds I'm getting now. We've been focused on writing new music so haven't played a show for a month or so. I got custom IEMs made by 64 audio and theyve made a...

Got the pedalboard all wired up. I had to order another isolator from gigrig as I'm 3 pedals short on power lol. Otherwise it's great. Had a good practice sorting out some issues last night. It's a mess of cables inside.

Thanks man. My dad made his living machining and fabricating out of this shop so I feel very lucky to have it when I need it. It's actually about 3 times the size you can see in these photos it has 2 other rooms of a similar size. I decided to be an IT guy. It's alot easier way to make a...

I'd say yeah a different p pickup can change the character alot. I'm a fan of the emg geezer bottlers. Often overlooked is pickup height too. Being too close to the strings can make them really bright. Now for my weekly update. I got my custom pickguard in amd routed my bass vi for himbucker...
