Thank you for the English Major content. I didn't even know Kevin Crossley-Holland had done a Beowulf book. I read his Norse myth book, so I'll check this Beowulf book out. I also see he did King Arthur. Should be fun time reading all of this content. Thank you!

...and here I am, unaware he did a Norse myth and King Arthur book! I honestly just got one of his Beowulf translations because it also contained various other Anglo-Saxon texts I wanted, and quite enjoyed his take on them. It started because I wanted a copy of the Exeter Riddles, and his was the only one I could find that wasn't prohibitively expensive, then saw he had a Beowulf (the illustrated one I likened as being for "children"), and later found in a local store the aforementioned collection of Anglo-Saxon texts that he edited, which had a different Beowulf translation of his. Since I enjoyed his other translations, I grabbed the collection.

I may have to track down his Norse mythology and King Arthur, now. I just finished up a modernized prose version Malory's of Le Morte d'Arthur, and enjoyed it. Been all over older texts lately, though I'm "modernizing" a bit later today and reading Brave New World. Then I may go back to ancient Greece for a crack at the Iliad.

For the sake of clarification, I was referring to "The 13th Warrior". Though I've only seen each film once so far, "Outlander" IS on Blu-Ray. I DO need to watch them both again sometime. I enjoyed each.

If we're here to talk about the "bad" films/shows we've seen far too many times... I can't count how many hours I've spent watching and re-watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I pretty much quote it every day (at least in my head, since most people would look at me like I'm crazy saying things from that show). But I DO have a few friends who also love it, and we quote it incessantly.

When I was a kid one of my favorite movies was Country Bears. The scene where Christopher Walken is crushing the models of country bear hall still kills me, but the rest of the movie is pretty bad looking back now.

I have never heard of this movie, which seems for the best? One of my favorites as a kid was Harry and the Hendersons. I picked up a copy on Blu-Ray a few years ago. Still enjoyable, if a bit goofy. My young son thought it was pretty funny.

Per the recent discussion of Beowulf...

I just read the entirety of my "Grendel" novel by John Gardner in one sitting. I feel that speaks for itself. This is the one from Grendel's perspective, and there's also an animated version that I'll now need to watch. It's not what I was expecting, but was clearly darn good. It's basically a philosophical treatise on the meaning of existence and nihilism - in the vein of "everyone has a purpose, and even the bad guys serve a greater good by giving the good guys opportunities to prove their worth". Regardless, it was excellent, and a pretty simple read, with the exception of a single chapter that was definitely more philosophical than I am able to keep up with. But the general story is pretty simple, and obviously familiar to anyone who knows Beowulf. It helps to know the source material a bit, but that's probably obvious. Anyway, it was a fantastic read and I highly recommend it.

Oh yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Awesome work though, looks great! Did you rub on or spray the finish, I can't remember if you said anything about that? Oh and where'd you snag the junction boxes? Been meaning to do the same for my board for some time.
