I've got a universe series jazz (BJB420), all stock, bought new for 27000 yen (about $320 USD). I bought this just so I can have a back up for my gig, but I ended up using this as my main bass because it trumped my MIM fender in terms of build quality and sound (stock pickups are great imo)...

I recommend MarloweDK from youtube. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have come across his videos and be amazed with his slap technique. He doesn't have tabs, but hey, we have ears. And eyes. Training your ear is only going to do you good :) Now go watch his covers and steal his technique :ninja:

If you can get it, MIA will be great. 08 models were great I heard. But since I can't afford MIA Fenders, Ill get the next best thing, the CIJ Fenders. IMO, these CIJ Fenders are better than MIM's, and have the best value for the money. ... Or just don't get a Fender and get a...

For that price, I would just get a handmade Bacchus... Search "Bacchus bass reviews" on google. I've only heard great things about them. They look great, sound great and they have very fast necks :) tthor posted this beauty in one of the bacchus threads here on tb. Hopefully he doesn't...

A handmade Bacchus. I played 3 of them a few days ago (I'm in japan atm for a holiday) and it smoked anything else I've ever played. But I couldn't afford it due to the exchange rate... Fighting GAS right now :o
