Mini short scale string question.... I have a 28 inch scale bass and I now see a few companies selling 25.5 inch basses (cheap ones) so who makes and sells a 25.5,inch scale FLAT or tape wound string..... I hate using short scale string on a mini.

All German made Hofner basses have a zero fret but the Chinese made Ignition and Shorty models are zero fret free. The Chinese Contemporary 500/1 and 500/2 basses do have the fret. Non of my Hofner basses have it..... All low end and made in China

If you don't understand frets.... Don't fret about it... Your understanding will sprout if not the frets themselves! ;)
