JAM ARTIS (Bruno Mars - BET Awards)

It seems fun as hell how they work together. Don't remember a band that has that much fun on stage and still kills.

Question for Scott's Bass Lessons users

It's def worth it. My biggest advice is to not try to do too much at once. There is a lot of information in those courses and it's tempting to try and binge watch all of them but you won't get the best bang for your buck. Whatever you want to improve on focus on that and then move forward.

Sire V7 gets my vote...haven't regretted getting mine at all.

    Ibanez SR500/505 for a beginner?

I still have my 505 and do not plan on letting it go. It may be light but that thing has some punch.

    Sire Bass Club!

I think it also depends on how many people ordered ahead of you in this "batch". I may be wrong but that's how it worked for me and others that bought before. So if your ship date is April 10th but you are further down on the list of people who ordered on this cycle then it could take a little...

    practice routine

Everybody has a different opinion but I stick to what keeps my interest or what I want to improve on. If it's a song or a lick I like then I focus on it. I practice my "scales" with licks that I want to learn. I find doing that helps me get the sound of a scale down better than just running up...

ibanez SR bridge problem! really common?

It was extremely easy to change out. It was my first time changing a bridge and I was nervous. Afterwards I felt kind of silly once I saw how easy it was. Especially being a replacement bridge that fits perfectly.

Learn a lot of songs or master a few??

I have so many songs I want to learn at once lol like a cat chasing a laser. So I'll start on a couple for a week or so then try another few and come back to the others again. Guess it's somewhat of a cycle. That may or may not be a good idea but it keeps me from getting bored or comfortable.

Learn a lot of songs or master a few??

Same here! I have to learn for note by personal preference. Thanks for the responses everyone

Learn a lot of songs or master a few??

Thanks for the response! It kind of depends because we may use them at church or not but most of what I learn on my own time outside of that is purely for vocabulary and ideas on how to play certain things. So I can use those ideas in other songs

Learn a lot of songs or master a few??

I think the thing I'm curious about is it may be somewhat easy to learn the progression but any phrasing or licks may take a lot longer to the point where it may slow down learning other songs. Unless any difficult passages should just be considered separate practice anyway

Learn a lot of songs or master a few??

When it comes to vocabulary we always hear to learn songs or transcribe. I wonder what's the most efficient way to increase vocabulary. Of course over time your list of known songs increases but what are you focusing on right now? Do you focus on volume as far as transcribing as many as you can...

Ever bought a bass that you really wanted to love?

Took me a while to get used to the Sire V7 when I first got it....but now??! I am in love with that bass.

The same chord progressions again and again...

Tell me about it! Worship music can get really repetitive at times with the progressions and everything being in the key of G or D.

4 Strings vs 5 Strings - Help needed for modern Praise & Worship

I personally only use a 5 for P&W and Gospel. Low octaves add so much more to the music.

Get the Sire. Got my V7 last May and haven't put it down yet. It's a beast and very fun to play.

Sire USA is looking for DEALERS!

Yea I think you're right. I know when I was getting my V7 there was debate on hoping the bass was from Indonesia instead of China because of QC issues.

Is your bass always in tune?

Most times it is depending on the weather and if the tuners got moved a bit taking the bass out of my gig bag.

    Sire Bass Club!

I'm interested in know the tone difference also between the vintage and V7. Hopefully, everyone says they sound the same so I don't have to gas for another bass lol

Anyone go 5 string and not go back?

I only play 5's. Ever since I got used to it I haven't gone back. Now it feels weird when I don't have that 5th string.

How to Determine The Root Notes in Bass Lines?

A lot of time the song ends on the root note. Not always true but usually a good place to start.

Longest time without changing bass strings; share your experiences.

I use Nickel rounds so I don't change them often. I like the tone when they mellow out on a jazz because you can still get some grit out of them with a small treble boost

I don't like playing over the bridge pickup

I typically end up playing between the neck and bridge pickup. It's more comfortable and I like the warmer tone that doesn't have too much boom since I like my low mids boosted

Are Ken Smith basses still popular?

I bought a Sire and haven't turned back. I feel any good jazz bass is all you really need most times. Like sharay reed, dude has been playing ONLY that red Fender Jazz forever

ibanez SR bridge problem! really common?

When I first called I was told that my serial number didn't allow me to get a new bridge. Hung up and called again the next day and got another rep and was somehow told the same but I ended up getting one in the mail due to an email I sent before I called. So calling didn't help me but emailing did.

    Ghost Notes ???

Love ghost notes. The technique was one of the first thing one of my mentors showed me when working on adding rhythm to a line. That video from Scott Devine is perfect and it's not as hard as it may seem to get it down. It'll become natural and you won't have to think about it while playing but...
