    Knats

These guys are amazing and the bass player is smokin'. Searched and didn't see anything about them.

My new band’s first tune. Roast me. 😀

This is a riff I had in my head for years and never even tried to play it ‘cause I was always in rock bands. Now I’ve got a 6-piece group that’s a little more versatile. The horn is courtesy of a neighborhood pal, we don’t have a horn in the band yet. We have a few more like this, plus...

NPD and the self-imposed end of the road!

Anticipating an overseas move next year, I recently sold a bunch of pedals and cut it from five boards down to two. But I kept a small board and power supply just in case… Did I mention I sold a bunch of pedals? I took some money and decided to find a Swiss Army knife. It didn’t take long...

    New Coyote fuzz from JHS!

I have too many fuzz pedals already. This looks cool, though.

    NPD: Way Huge Attack Vector

Got this for a steal on Marketplace in new condition. Versatile pedal. The phaser goes from subtle to black hole and the filter is very convincing. Only minus is it cuts the volume a bit. The Cranker takes care of that but if anyone has Attack Vector tips, please share!

    NBD: Epiphone Thunderbird ‘64

Ooh baby, this is a fun one. Played it at GC, liked it but not for their price, found it online for $100 less, decided it’d be more fun to order one and wait for the truck! I’ve got a lovely family of three green basses now… Sherwood, Inverness and Hunter. Enjoy!

NBD! 1998 Warwick Dolphin NT 5

You don’t see these too often. On consignment locally. I’ve always had a thing for Warwicks and been thinking about a 5 again. The stars aligned. I put my ‘75 Burns Flyte on consignment. This thing is just super badass!

    NPD: Monger Pedals IPA overdrive

I don’t need more pedals, but this one was hard to pass up! Besides the awesome artwork, this is $100 from a small-batch U.S. maker, and it sounds awesome! Stay off Instagram, people. Dangerous. 😀

    Alyson Blake Dellinger of Flummox

I had never heard of this band before seeing them last night, and I was floored. Alyson sings lead while playing insane 6-string bass lines filled with slapping, two-hand tapping, chording, straight-up fingerstyle shredding and whatever else you can imagine. The whole thing is very theatrical...

My day in the pedalboard O.R. - elimination round

I found myself with a big board and three mini boards and this is too much. After several days of thought, I came up with a plan - all my favorites on the bigger board, best of the rest on a mini and the leftovers go away. For starters, I have one mini board that’s never changing: So now, on to...

    NPD! Spurr Audio TT Delay

Took about a month. Instantly the coolest pedal I own. I mean, it has a flux capacitor!

N(U)PD! The start of my next mini board.

Went to Atlanta Discount Music today with evil intent! They’ve got the best pedal selection in town, especially used stuff. I knew I was looking for a compressor and some dirt. Got a JHS 3 Series Rotary Chorus on the way as the end piece. Wampler Ego Mini was on hand and came recommended, so I...

New mini board! (AKA “No new gear in 2025” goes up in flames)

I mean, why would anyone make a pledge like that except to smash it? 🤪 Toward the end of 2024, I completed a really cool, 11-pedal board and was also playing around with a Pod Express Bass, which got me thinking about an in-between. With funds at my disposal and hours of research, I went to...

    NBD: 1975 Burns Flyte

Admittedly, there were beers involved, but not enough that I couldn’t reset my Reverb password. 😀 This thing is rad. Weighs less than 7 pounds and roars!

    RIP Hambone

If this isn’t the right place to post this or it’s been posted elsewhere, please delete. Longtime TBer Hambone passed over the weekend. A great dude. If you’re in the ATL area, there’s a memorial this Sunday.

NAD: Ampeg Micro VR in BLUE!

I got the Micro CL a few months ago, been gigging with it and and absolutely love it. Then I see the Micro VR in “limited edition” blue! Bought it on my phone in four clicks. The VR head can run both cabs. What a hoot. I’ve never been this stoked on amplification!

    NBD: Nash JB63

I waited 14 months but it was worth it. Sherwood Green Metallic, Lollars, 9 pounds. I’m gonna put flats on it soon. Not much else to say, it’s awesome!

Looking for a Mo Foster quote

Anyone have the Oct. 1992 issue of BP? The one from my collection I can’t find! Marcus Miller on the cover. There’s an article on the late Mo Foster in there and at the very end, he says something about the bass being there like an old friend when no one else is. I can’t find the article...

Give it up for this guy. Granted, they’re doing their best ALL impression but that’s exactly the point and thank god someone is!

Opinions wanted: Quest for the ultimate Jazz bass

I'm sure this thread has been done to death, but... :) For years I've been telling my wife that when my number finally comes up at work, I'm gonna spend used-car money on a bass. Well, after 33.5 years, it's here! I've settled on a Jazz or Jazz-style bass as my daily driver. I play 4 and 5, but...

Seriously, Bass Player? Like, how many people saw this during the production process? In humongous typeface, too. Yeesh!

    For Sale Italia Imola 5-string

Cool bass with a huge sound, just thinning the herd.. again. :) Chambered body, Wilkinson pickups, weighs 9.6 pounds. The action needed some help with the neck straight, so I shimmed it 2mm with business card strips (and did a darn fine job if I don't say so myself!) The setup is now nice and...

SOLD Fender MIM 75th Anniversary Jazz

This is a really cool bass, but I just spent a bunch of money on two old Reverend Rumblefish. Bought new at GC last July. Not a mark on it. Plays great and sounds like a Jazz. I added a Hipshot D-tuner. Will include the stock E-string tuning key, as well as a replacement tort pickguard that...

    Rightsizing the collection, aka 5+1-1+1-1+1-1=5

Last summer, I took this family photo and was pretty satisfied. Got my harem of Leo's greatest hits for the band, a couple of boutique toys for fun, and I'm never playing 4-string again so what else could I ever need? Then I took a harder look and thought: that's a lot of fretted 5s. The Jazz...

    SOLD EBMM Stingray 5

2001 model in Pelham Green. I've had it for 2+ years, it's in the exact same condition as when I bought it. Very clean, just a couple of scuffs behind the bridge. Plays great, sounds great. Weighs 9.8 pounds. String spacing is 17.5mm. Has Schaller straplocks. Comes with the EBMM case which has a...

SOLD PRICE DROP! Roscoe headless 5-string

PRICE DROP TO $2,250! Thinning the herd. As cool as this bass is, and as much sentimental value as it has (I had it built as a 50th birthday present to myself) I just gravitate toward my Jazz basses. Roscoe Century Standard Plus 5, born-on date May 1, 2017. Body: Alder Top: Cocobolo Neck...

    Hipshot Xtender question

Anyone know which model Hipshot fits a MIM 75th Anniversary Jazz? I emailed Hipshot through their website but no reply yet. Found a couple different answers online and just wanna be sure. Here's the tuning key it'd be replacing.

SOLD Fender Am. Std. P-bass 5-string

I may live to regret this, but I'm in revamping mode - got too many fretted 5-strings. This bass is a gem from 2009. I bought it new and I'm the only owner. Weighs 9 pounds. Plays like butter with a dead straight neck and sweet medium-low action. I had to adjust the truss rod exactly once in 11+...

    NBD: 75th Anniversary Jazz

I decided I needed a 4-string again after 11+ years of just 5s. Didn't have a big budget for this, but played a bunch of stuff. Came down to this and a SBMM Stingray. This one is silver.

Did I screw up, or am I a hero?

***UPDATE FOR ANYBODY JUST GETTING HERE AND NOT READING THE WHOLE THREAD: I APOLOGIZED, HE ACCEPTED. CARRY ON...*** So every year at my neighborhood pool, there’s an adults-only party. My band played it a couple of times. The beer, wine and liquor always flow freely at this shindig and things...

My "arsenal" and the end of G.A.S.

Like a lot of us, I've done plenty of buying, selling, trading and flipping over the years. The most recent deal I made was largely out of convenience, not what I really intended and I second-guessed it for a couple of weeks until I took a step back and realized I now have the perfect little...

NBD: Fender American Professional Jazz 5

Got this in a trade and just brought it home. This is the new one with upgraded everything. Sweet player, thunderous sound. Straight neck, low action, excellent B. Could be a keeper!

TRADED PRICE DROP: Roscoe Century Standard 5-string

Just had an unexpected and rather large plumbing bill so I need to move this bass! Ordered in October of 2013, completed on March 21, 2014, PLEK’d by Roscoe on March 3 of this year. The body is three-piece mahogany and the neck is maple with a wenge fretboard and 19mm string spacing, which is...

Got a song on cable TV!

Long story short, I produce a cable TV news show called "MichaeLA" on HLN. Around Christmas, my boss told me he was looking for new music for the show. He sent me a funky instrumental track as a rough idea and asked if me or my band could write something. My band's lead singer/guitarist runs his...

    Descendents - Hypercaffium Spazzinate

Anyone else get this one yet? It's officially out Friday but NPR streamed most of it last week, and my deluxe edition CD (5 bonus tracks) arrived Saturday. It's chock full of head-spinning bass lines by Karl, and one great song after another. There's a guy who does Descendents bass covers on...

    NOD! Hammond S-6 chord organ

A guy in my neighborhood is moving and wanted to get rid of this. I got it for $75. From what I've read, this model was probably built sometime in the late 50s, although I haven't found a good Hammond serial-number database. It needs a top-to-bottom cleaning, but it works, and it sounds pretty...
