    Performer bass name

It is off-putting to me for Fender to use "performer" with a Fender Mustang because THE Fender Performer bass is so iconic (wish I had one). That's just me and of course YMMV, but it grates me. It is like bringing out the Ford Pinto again and naming it the Ford Mustang.

    Dumb dumb dumb ol' me

OK, my sister-in-law's birthday. I'm thinking of something that will be helpful for her, not another "dust-catcher" piece of crap. She's into fitness/dieting (big time) and such so that I got her 6 cans of choc and vanilla Slim Fast. Just tryin' to help....hello! My bro was cool with it---for...

Offered a 500/1000 watt amp (with whatever other EQ/etc of course) along with a 4x12 cab at 8 ohms so you could add another and still be at a reasonable 4 ohm set up. Would you want it? I know...just dreaming.

What 6-string bass is this guy playing?

This band is in Indonesia. The keyboardist is the BL, his name is Indra and is the cousin of a friend of mine (Tony) for forty years (who is a drummer out in Calif). He sent me the link tonight. The body reminds me of Spector maybe and the headstock is Alembic-ish. First glimpse of bass is at...

PICKUPS SMACK DAB ALMOST ON THE BRIDGE

I have seen some basses for sale on eBay and the Bridge pup, I swear, looks to be 1/4 inch or less away from the bridge. Is there some rule of thumb that defines the optimal distance of the pup from the bridge? It looks strange to me, too, besides thinking the vibrations which are bound to be...

    Stench Stampede

Hilarious yesterday at a small "Starbucks" imitator coffee shop. I was approaching it and about 8-9 people came out in a rush, trying to act cool, but a few disgust-faces, curses and "J--C--!'s" told me something was up. The air following them came out the door with/behind them was, let's just...

    Well, this is depressing. Sheesh!

Bass Line on "Treat Her Like a Lady"

There is nothing spectacular here, but damn, this is a great example from back in the day (1970) where the producer really gave the bassist his sonic space, so to speak. Always liked it for that (and the fact it was the favorite of our main Ranger school instructor at the time, so he'd always be...

    Morbid bass thought?

Loooonnngg time ago I was so enthralled by playing bass (still am) that I had the eccentric idea that when my time ends, I'd like to be cremated and my ashes stirred into a gloss lacquer and my main player gets a new paint job with that lacquer to hand down to my child if I were to have one...

    Label it please

I like to look at the pictures TB'ers post. So often, however, somebody will post a picture and never tell you what brand it is. Which capacitor to use?

Have a nice 1983 bass in perfect shape body/neck-wise, but minus all its electronics: no pups, wiring, pots.
