what do you guys think about rounds and wear and tear on the fingerboard. I'm assuming with the massive amounts of round players here, not too big of an issue. I've been using GHS Precision flats, warmer tone than the DR Flats. imo.

I've felt the same way. We started playing some mellower Reggae stuff and my Corvette just had a little too much bite at times. Curious how much lowering the pickups would help?

I would agree. Don't let them use it. Yes, equipment breaks down at the last minute and we should be willing to lend a hand but I think I've read too many horror stories of strangers disrespecting other's equipment.

In my experiences with EQ'ing things, is that I find a tone I like and then I bring the volume levels of each boosted or cut tone back to a more subtle level. Example: "Oh, I like my bass with an 8db boost at 800Hz" I would then drop it down to first 5db, and maybe then 3db. Eq'in to me is so...

As a Corvette Standard owner I have come to appreciate the transparency of my instrument. It really is clean. A good foundation in which an effects geek can fool around with. Truly a nice instrument with its craftsmanship.

anyone who speaks of some stigma associate with 5 strings is foolish in my mind. You need to drop tune, then do it. You're being practical with a 5 string. Who knows what you might learn from it. This is all coming from me, who only owns a 4-string.

I agree with the majority. Buy a proper fretless bass, even if it's a cheap one to learn on for the meantime. I bought a defretted bass. Although the guy did a proper job, upon closer inspection it reveals intricacies that just really can't be avoided when you take a pair of heavy metal pliers...
