Question: How bad are the MIM Fenders?

Playing a 2016 MiM Jazz as I type this. It's a great bass. As had already been said, play it before you buy it.

    NBD - 1976 Precision in 3TS

Love it, love it, love it. Congratulations on the bass. That era burst with the maple board is one of my favorite combinations.

    NBD!

It's been a while since my last NBD. I've been lusting after a candy apple red Jazz Bass for a long time. It feels good to have a longing realized. MIM Jazz Bass by MRDOOM posted Jul 16, 2016 at 6:12 PM

Love the two tone 57 burst. Congrats.

Love or hate the genre, they are talented.

I'm curious to know the thought process that went into the formation of this band. Did someone say "you know what this pop group needs, blistering power metal." Or was it a bunch of metal musicians going "ok, so we have our instruments, we've mastered our riffs, now all that we need are cute...

Music Shops in Los Angeles / San Francisco

Only having experience in LA, Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana is pretty cool. Not a huge selection of basses, but still worth a visit if you have any interest in vintage instruments. As has already been said, True Tone in Santa Monica is a must.

That's the best looking pedalboard I've ever seen. What's the Ron Swanson pedal?

The illusive SVT sound, from the VT

Even though it has nothing to do with the pedal, it should be noted that Nick is tuned down pretty low for that song (C standard I believe). As for getting as close as you can to that tone with the vt, assuming you're starting out on the factory recommended "svt" tone, try bringing the mids and...

    Music with No Bass!

Blood Red Shoes is a good example of a decent band without a bassist. A bass player isn't necessarily a prerequisite for awesome, but (speaking with a bass player's bias) it definitely helps.

Think the music of today sucks? I call bull poop

One thing to remember when getting nostalgic for music of the past is that a lot of the music from the "good" eras that we listen to today is but a small handful of what was actually produced and played at the time. We generally pick and choose a relatively small number of artists and bands to...

    Acoustic B410 MKII

I have had both the original and the MKII version of the Acoustic 410. It would probably be best to avoid. Both cabs were strangely muffled sounding. They sounded like they had a cold. It was especially pronounced when you ran a fuzz or an overdrive through them. Save your money.
