When the band decides to do an E flat, do you E flat your 5 string?

All depends on the context. For any band or genre

Thinking If I Even Need Another Pedal

I agree with your point that maybe OP should just hold off on buying a new pedal. I feel I was in a similar situation as OP in that I was looking around at a bunch of cool effects but didn't see any urgent need for them. I do own a Zoom B3 that I need to explore more because I'm sure there are...

Man that looks awesome! I've never heard of the TL-6 before. When was it produced?

Consistency of tone and attack between fingers

If you have access to the necessary tools recording yourself to the metronome then zooming in a little on the wave forms is a good way to see your attack in a more concrete way. Obviously how it sounds comes first but it helps to be able to see it

I find it interesting that I didn't see a lot of meshuggah in here considering that they're very rhythmic

    Peavey Releases Cirrus again!

I was wondering if they'd bring them back after the discussions in a peavey thread a few months ago. My cirrus 6 is easily the best bass I've ever played. Hope these match up to it

I am extremely worried about becoming a 'professional musician'

Idk what your job/life situation is like OP but if you want to become known in the prog metal scene it's my opinion that you need to be constantly writing and practicing. You said you worry about adding something new to progmetal but at some point someone will add something new. It doesn't...

    Went into Guitar Center, Wow

I know each store is different and everyone's experience are different but I've mostly had good experiences at the GC near me (Tulsa). They have a decent selection of basses and there's usually a cool used bass or two there. The employees are pretty friendly and are active in our small music scene

How many people actually set up their own instruments and get professional results?

I tried to adjust the trussrod on my squier p affinity and shaged up the fretboard really badly. I've been too afraid to even look at trussrods lol

not metal enough for a metal band?

Too concerned about looks. There are plenty of metal bands that don't look "metal" that play metal. I love that Javier Reyes from AAL sometimes looks like he's about to teach geometry. In the end I think the music is far more important. I feel you though. My singer in my band (indie rock)...

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

You're right the buzz in the video was normal. There was a much louder problematic buzz that didn't appear in that video. The louder buzz and crackle was what I was trying to diagnose. I was confused when I posted that first video!

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

Thanks for the help guys I think I may have fixed the problem. I went ahead and ran by GC and picked up a new power cable. The amp is much quieter now. There is some buzz when the woofer is cranked but I'm assuming this is normal. If it fails to have fixed the problem with venues I'll be...

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

That white cord is a window AC unit. I went ahead and unplugged it and I am still able to replicate the buzz. It maybe the case that the power cord is not the original one. I bought this amp used several years ago. After the buzz fades out I am able to turn the amp off and then on after a...

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

Small update. I just went to test out a different bass on the amp. Turned it on without the instrument plugged in (tuning mute on). Started out with a LOUD buzz for a few seconds then a large crackle and the buzz got a little quieter and then totally faded out.

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

I completely forgot to account for single coil buzz. This may be what it is but even so it seems so very loud. Is it normal for single coil buzz to be really loud?

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

It does not buzz with no instrument plugged in. Could the grounding on the input jack be screwy?

    Gallien Krueger 700RBii Buzz

Disclaimer: I did a search for this but didn't see anything terribly specific to my problem but if there is a thread I should read please let me know! I've had my GK 700RBii for a while now and its always had a buzz. Sometimes it's worse than others times. I've had a hard time detecting a...

The USA Cirrus basses...any neck issues?

I've never heard of neck issues. I have a 6'er myself. I've owned the bass for about 4 or 5 years with nothing ever done to the neck and it is still very straight. My experience has been that it is reliable

    Ibanez BTB Club, Part 2!

Been looking at a BTB7E at guitar center for a little bit. Went there today to play it some more (I'm slightly obsessive) and the action is pretty high. Way higher than my Cirrus 6. The neck looks a bit bowed towards the headstock. Can this be fixed with a proper setup? I don't really know...

    Peavey question

Going to reiterate a lot of what has already been said I think. My third bass was a Cirrus BXP. Loved the thing. I was quite happy with it. So I got a US cirrus. HUGE upgrade. The USA Cirrus is awesome. It keeps the gas at bay because I have a hard time finding something I like as much...

Scotts Bass lessons lifer? pros vs. cons?

I intrepretted as $1 for the first 14 days if you go ahead and buy a full year. Then after 14 days your get charged but can't stop it. I could be dead wrong

Scotts Bass lessons lifer? pros vs. cons?

Is his site pretty comprehensive? I'm not great by any means but I've been playing a while and I'm an alright bassist. Does he provide a high ceiling?

    Anyone regret buying a 6'er?

No regrets from me. You don't have to play all the notes (although it is tempting). I use my 6 at church and my 4 in my rock band.
