    Back at it ......again (finally)

About 6-7 months ago I posted a thread about getting back out and start gigging again. Well...Saturday I will be doing just that. Last time was,oh...25 years ago! Playing with a great group of musicians that have been real supportive (not to mention patient) as I get up to speed. Guess you're...

Looking to play out (again..after 25 years)

I am currently seeking out gig opportunities and hope to get out playing soon. I do enjoy all the great encouragement from my fellow bassists out there. Thanks guys.

Audition for a band.... What to do and don't.

Wow...I am glad I saw this. I am looking to get back into a band after a long 20+ years hiatus. Some good advice given, I will keep in mind.

Looking to play out (again..after 25 years)

Thanks for the great comments, guys. As for Marleys Ghosts' reply regarding how my wife would feel..well, she is "kinda" supportive...in a sense.

Looking to play out (again..after 25 years)

Okay...having played and studied bass for nearly 32 years, I am wanting to get back out and play out with "real" musicians, not just drum machines and sequenced patterns...lol. My last real gig was...uh oh, in 1986. I was just out of high school. Our band opened for Three Dog Night. I did play...

    Multi-effects pedal with drum loops?

The Digitech BP355 has 60 drum loops plus a looper. Very simple to use, once you get to know the unit.

    Digitech BP90 multi-effects

Ok, Tupac...heres my advice. Buy a BP355 and then see if you think you need to add any pedals. And honestly, the only pedal I would add is another BP355. By the time you start adding pedals, you are going to be looking at another 150 to 200 bucks. Not saying that the BP355 is the greatest thing...

    Digitech BP90 multi-effects

Tupac, Not knowing your budget, but I would spend another 100 and invest in the Digitech BP355. There are unlimited tone possibilities within this unit. You get a looper (20sec) but you can do overdubs with it. You can use heaphones as well. Check out some You tube clips on it as well. I am...

    Best songs for looping

Ah yeah! Billie Jean is a great one. Got to work on that one. DT...I like doing the percussive thing as well. Hey..another good one just came to mind. Swingtown by Steve Miller. Actually going to go work on that right now.

    Best songs for looping

I have a few (so far) great tunes to loop and jam the melody over top of it. I am using the BP-355s looper. It is limited in comparision with, say, the JamMan, but a with a great bassline oriented song, you can rock out. Here are some of my faves: Chameleon Shake your body to the ground-...

    What mutli-effect?

You might want to look into the Digitech BP-355. Not that expensive but has great tones.

    Digitech FX Processor

The BP 355 is a fantastic unit. I dont know how it compares to the other units in the same price range ($199) but this thing kicks butt. Well worth checking out.

Advice on developing a lighter right hand technique?

I want to throw my 2 cents in. Try this. Practice without an amp on. Play the normal stuff you play, but here is the thing...you're trying to barely hear the sound, meaning...you are getting a lighter touch. After a while you will notice a difference. Then you turn the amp up and you wont hear...

    The new Digitech BP355.

Hey Metrobass...seriously? You cant get the cow bell, but you can get a steel drum effect.

    Geddy Lee Jazz feel.

I played one at GC the other day and fell in love. The feel to me was unbelievable. Great bass. I am adding that to the top of my "wishlist", replacing peace on earth.

    G&L Club Part 3

Here is my 81 L-2000E. Had her for about 28 years. Almost lost her through an apartment fire,an attemtped robberry, and a car fire. She is as solid as the day I got it.

    1981 G&L L-2000E

I have a 1981 G&L L-2000E. I am considering selling it. I have some questions regarding it. First off, I am curious to know whether or not the "Patent Pending" that is on the headstock and bridge has any significant determination as to its value. I also was told a (long) while ago that Leo...

    Long(er) Fingernails

I grow my right hand index finger nail out a little and cut it at an angle and file the left side of it down. Now this may seem strange but when I play finger style the nail hardly touches the string. I use the nail part for a pick. It works both ways.

    Digitech BP-355

Well put, bongostealth. The more you dive into this the more you will discover how to get great tones. I am seriously considering buying another one cause I would love to be able to whammy some synth patches or add chorus to them, as well as use the rhythm tracks with the looper for even...

    Boss ME-50

Consider the Digitech BP355. Very easy to use (once you get to know it). Programming is simple: Tweak, push store twice...name it if you want...done. Very great sounding unit. And it is built like a tank....solid and rugid (I dropped mine off a table onto a hard floor and nothing broke or came...

Boss me-50 bass multi effect pedal

Yeah...go with the Digitech BP-355. Great tones and models. I think it is priced the same as the Boss, but I have to say that this unit kicks butt.

    Digitech bp355 patch ideas

I am all about the envelope filter on this unit and a cool tone I have been digging is as followed: Set the FX25 post/ blend-75 / sens 80 / range 30 For distortion use the octaivia I find reverb...mainly ambience with levels cranked...really brings out the "gooeyness" of the...

    Digitech BP-355

Now thats the kind of story I like. Hey MetroBass, great purchase. I bought mine as well from GC and had no problems. You will have a blast with this. If you like a juicy synth tone (think "Let it Whip" from the Dazz Band) you can get it. If you want a screaming lead guitar, Boom....done. This...

    Digitech BP-355

Hey guys....again, and I love to say this...the BP355 kicks some serious bass. Made a steel drum patch(?) yep...reggae! BTW...for a cool steel drum type sound, set your analog delay time to 30, repeat to 70, and level to 99.

Good recordings where you can hear Jamerson?

Go to YouTube and search James Jamerson bass lines and there are some great isolated tracks. The coolest one is "Whats goin on?", just the bass and Marvin Gayes vocals. Then click on the person who posted it and there are a lot more that are done like that.

    Digitech bp355 patch ideas

Found my funk sound. Simply use the FX25 without distortion, use the commando amp model with the ed4x10 cab model, and under EQ crank presence all the way. Have some killer slap stuff on the way.

    Digitech bp355 patch ideas

Hi Brent. Like Crystalman was saying, it does take time to find the sounds that you like. I rarely use presets now cause I tweak the crap out of every patch. The octaver is very glitchy I agree. What I do is use the pitch or whammy for octave effects with very little to no glitching. Got to set...

    Digitech bp355 patch ideas

Even though you only get 20 seconds to loop you can still get some killer loops. I usually will start a loop with a bass riff (No...really?) Now the thing about it is of course the timing. Say you do a cool little slap riff. What I like to do is mute slap a beat...most likely a straight 4/4...

    Digitech bp355 patch ideas

Wanted to give an update to my "sequencer" sounds. There are some patches that will allow the LFO patch to work in looping mode with another patch. Meaning, you can start the loop with a sixteenth note rhythm, change patches and loop something else with it. Also, been getting great funk...
