    Using flats for pop music?

I switched to flats about two years ago and I absolutely love them, the feel, the sound, etc. I recently switched bands and am now playing top 40 pop. Any suggestions on how to get a better tone for pop music out of flatwouds? ANything I can set on the amp/eq? If it helps I'm playing an L2K...

+1 When I get in a rut I pick up a guitar and after a few weeks I find I'm itching to pick up a bass again.

It's uncannily accurate. Although the video isn't long enough or loud enough to match the real life experience.

EGO-TESTICLES what's the stupidest band name you've played under?

My current band went through a long period where we couldn't decide on a name, so we picked a different name for each show. Some of the highlights: The Poops Ass Kickin' Fat Kid Kamikaze Thunder Chicken

    Gigs - Re:Punctuality

Every gig my last band took was like that. No matter what the singer was doing, or what time he planned on leaving. He could never get there more than 15 minutes before we started.

Yeah, definitely have to add the cross over. Just need to run new wires from the + and - of the input jack to this crossover: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and then to one of the recommeneded drivers.

Did Lt. John Pike torture students at UCDavis?

Sure.. I mean they could have stayed home and protested in their dorm rooms and it would have been just as effective right? Protests are about visibility so forcing them to places of lower visibility is infringing on their right. Like I said before, this is case of right to protest vs. right to...

Did Lt. John Pike torture students at UCDavis?

For a protest to be effective it has to be held in a highly visible location. In this case it was in a walk way. Did it infringe on others' right to take the most direct route to their intended destination? Yep, it sure did. But so does road construction, and I don't hear anyone complaining...

how to fill the hole left by a soloing guitarist

Bass chords.... If the solo isn't over a complicated bass line I will just switch to playing the power chords the guitar was playing. Sometimes you might have to move the root up an octave to keep from sounding too muddy tho.

    PETA vs Seaworld

PETA does not endorse illegal acts. At their heart they are attempting to educate people. Some of their methods are unorthodox and silly, but they can't coerce anyone. Also it's certainly not fair to hold an organization responsible for the actions of its members when these actions were not...

    PETA vs Seaworld

Now you're going to make me defend PETA... PETA does not have enough influence to coerce or force anyone to do anything. They bring attention to issues and let courts or public opinion decide. Enterprises that profit from animals (food, research, entertainment) do have the resources to force...

    PETA vs Seaworld

PETA would have almost zero support without factory farming, so it's hard, and often not useful, to discuss one without the other Just because you haven't heard about it doesn't mean it's not happening. Are you saying that any action is morally permissible so long as it doesn't harm...

    PETA vs Seaworld

Of course nobody forced them to use these tactics. Just like nobody forced big Ag to pay off politicians so they can profit at the expense of our tax dollars and health. It is certainly not an ideal situation and I can appreciate why you find it upsetting, in fact I think we both do. But can...

    PETA vs Seaworld

Well the jury is still out on that one. :D The problem with relying solely on the reasonabless of our arguments is that the people we are arguing against are typically large corporations that use purchased political influence, rather than the merit of their ideology, to push their agenda and...

    PETA vs Seaworld

Unfortunately we eat such a large number of animals (7 billion per year in the US, I believe) that they cannot be raised in humane conditions. Even with their recent popularity, humanely raised meat constitutes around 1% of all the meat eaten in America. So even though the cruelties at the...

    Advice on lights

Just and update on what happened. I got a pair FOUR-PLAYs from cheaplights.com and used them for the first time tonight. Must say I was impressed, they were more than adequate to light a large stage area and part of the dance floor. And for $250 each they are much more affordable than the...

Dunno about the price... but a 2 12 didn't cut it for me in a loud band. I'd say get the amp and stick with your 2 15.

    How to Audition a Singer

The singer in my cover band quit today. He agreed to do the gigs we have already booked through the end of November. So we aren't in a terrible hurry to find someone. Any tips for finding a singer? Places to look, questions to ask, things to look for during the audition?

Figuring out basslines w/o an ear

    Private lessons, or self teaching???

Defintely get a teacher who is working in the area. Being a successful full time musician requires more than just music skill. Someone with experience will be able to give you advice on finding jobs as well as instructing you how to play.
