    Boss GT-10B

One of the many things you could do is set one channel up clean and the other with od/dist. then add different eq and or compression to bothin equal amounts or one or the other in different amounts based on what you want to hear when you switch.

    retiring my AMPEG......

My bad I'm and idiot.......9'er on the pre, i have tried the driving it hard with the tube gain turned down ie: 3'oclook or lower. but i prefer it on full tilt ei: 5'oclock. i play mostly hard rock but i LOVE r&b bass tones :/. as far as the cab got it in a trade for a 4x10:thumbsup: around 2002...

    retiring my AMPEG......

Thanks for the input. I have really been impressed with everything i have heard about the 15/6!! I do know ampeg claims 130 spl max, but my svt only goes 450 watts @ 4 ohms, so im short of that. My settings on my amp are pre-9 o'clock eq is pretty flat and master at 1 o'clock. I would like to be...

    retiring my AMPEG......

Im thinking about getting rid of my big, heavy ol' ampeg. she's an svt pro-3 head and 8x10 bottom. the power is fine, the tone is not that great for me, not bad enough to complain but if I'm starting over i would like to hit it on the head! .I'm thinking of going with a fearful cab and power amp...

I just did my 8x10 in herculiner, its meant for pickup truck beds. I had it left over from another project and the factory covering had been removed years ago so i figured why not. i went on well and is adhearing great. finish is rough, much like a course grit sand paper but hey its not for...

TC BG250 vs Carvin MB15 which one for me

I'm more than happy with my carvin micro 10'' handles my 6 string well although I have to run the E.Q. Pretty aggressive. When I run my 15'' extension it really pumps. I just wanted something to play with acoustics's but the rig can keep up with a full drum set just fine, even with a low B

    Unusual tuning

hey nik, congrats on your new band. Ijust got in to a cover band recently too but they do have some originals. For one song i'll tune ADADB and that gives a nice range to play with, but I have noticed that the b-string is a little more sesitive to tension changes and have to compromise for fret buzz

Cheap, new, loud enough combo suggestions...

I have come too prefer the tone on my carvin micro 10'' over my ampeg. And it's just as loud with a extension cab till about 7.5 on the master. I bought it just for a practice amp but now I consider it my main rig and just leave my 100#+ monster and the jamm room. I'm in my mid 30's aswell and I...

Key elements for the Warwick sound

i'll second that. I have a german made passive vette stnd. i like the "feel" no frets but not huge on the "mmwwwaahh" for playing hard rock/metal but my wick has allways been great to play/listen/look!!

In TB opinions what is THE bass pickup.

So how bout' if you have a cheap brice 6'er and you like rock music and consider your (ideal) tone to be gritty and cutting but also like a nice full low end "boom" aswell, but nothing that would muddy up the cut through the mix?:hiding:

How can 250w cut the mustard in a gig situation?

I have a carvin micro 10'' with a 15'' extension and I can drown out the drumer on about 6 or 7, and feels just as good as my ampeg pro-3 8x10 if I'm not going all out.:bassist:
